I held onto my mother and fathers hand tightly and they swung me through the air. Our laughter pierced the quiet night as we headed back to home. We had just gotten finished with dinner for my third birthday. They kept swinging me, making me feel like I was soaring through the sky. We turned down the alley way that we always go down to head back home. I stopped before I walked down. My mother looked down at me as I squeezed her hand tightly. "What's wrong baby?" She asked in a soft tone.

"I-it's dark. I don't like the dark." I said, scared. My father laughed quietly and lifted me up by my underarms, resting me on his hip. "Don't worry. I've got you. The monsters won't get you now." He said and I clutched onto his neck. My mother grabbed my fathers hand as she stayed close to him. I rested my head on his shoulder and yawned.

"Looks like someone's tired." He said, messing with my hair a little. "Of course he is. It's way past his bedtime." My mother said in return. I closed me eyes and snuggled up on my father. He held me close and kept walking down. My mothers head lifted up as she stared down in the alleyway. I opened my eyes and looked at what she was looking at. A dark figure stood before us. A knife was held in his right hand. My father stopped walking as my mother stared in terror. He put me down and I hid behind him, holding his hand tightly. "Give me your money." The figure said loudly. I felt my eyes water up in absolute fear. "I said give me your money!!" He repeated, walking closer.

"Look, w-we don't want any trouble."

"Give me the damn money!!" He repeated once again. My father moved my mother out of the way as he drove his knife down. My father dodged and tried disarming the man but he fought back. He knocked my mother to the ground as I stepped back in horror. My father was unconscious. "Mommy!" I yelled, scared to move. She lifted her head up and looked at me in tears. "Yuichiro!!! Run!!! And don't look back!!" She screamed. I cried rivers of tears and I turned around and began to run away. Her screams of terror kept flashing my mind as I tried stopping the tears.

"NO!!!!" I screamed as I sat up in my bed quickly, panting. My shirt was off and I was coated in sweat. All that was visible in the moon light was the cross necklace that my father gave me for my third birthday. I was still breathing heavily as the dream kept flashing my mind. I touched my cheek and it was stained with tears. I felt the covers move from under me and I saw Mika asleep. He held my hand in his sleep as he snored softly. I rubbed his hand softly as I watched him sleep. I picked my phone up and looked at the time.

2:13 AM

I sighed and laid back in my bed. Everytime I closed my eyes, images from my dream kept haunting me, causing me to stay awake. Sitting back up, I grabbed my phone and decided to text Yoichi to see if he was still awake.

Yu: Yoichi, you up?

I sat there for a second with no answer. I went through my notifications and checked my social media. I climbed out of bed and held onto the frame as I looked outside. The waves crashed against the shore, blocking everything else other then the waves. I grabbed something to help me stand up when I found my hiking stickin the corner of my room. My leg ached as I straightened myself up. Mika stayed asleep as I opened my door quietly. I walked slowly downstairs and into the kitchen. Guren was asleep on the couch so I had to stay quiet. I grabbed a bottle of coke and opened the fridge to see what was inside. I heard someone walking around and I looked up to see Guren.

"Why are you up? It's almost three in the morning." He asked, tiredly and rubbed his eye. "I had that nightmare again." I said, opening the bottle. "I didn't hear you screaming." He said and sat down at a stool by the island. My phone buzzed and pulled it out.

Yoichi: Yuichiro, what are you doing up so late?

Yu: had a nightmare.
