Soo Young was stunned and overwhelmed by the person right in front of her eyes. She never thought she could see him again.
"It's you.... so you're the mother of this child...." Sung Jae said before collapsing on the couch. He was super drunk from all the alcohol the villagers gave him.
Soo Young stood there speechless. She thought he still remembered her but in fact, he only remembered her as the lady he rescued from the spiked drink earlier.
Soo Young asked Sami why she called him daddy, and Sami said it's because she found him in the same situation that she had always described. But the village head kept on telling Sami he wasn't her dad, and that he was a lawyer.
Soo Young soon realised that Sung Jae was the lawyer who was sent here to help them solve the issue. Which also meant that he had succeeded in his dream of becoming a successful lawyer. She then turned to Sami,
"Sami-ah, look, he's not your father okay?"
"If he's not my father then omma, why are you crying?" Sami asked very innocently and curiously.
Soo Young quickly wiped her tears and replied, "I'm crying cause I worked very hard today and I missed you."
"Don't lie!" Sami retorted. "You are crying because you haven't seen daddy in so long right!"
Soo Young kept trying to convince her but Sami was very determined. Soo Young then shouted at her asking her to stop, but after apologised for scolding her and shared a tight hug.
Soon, Min Jae finally arrived at Soo Young's house. He brought Sung Jae into the room and Soo Young immediately asked him if she should leave this place. Min Jae told her that he saw Sung Jae wearing a ring on his fourth finger, which meant that he was a married man now and had forgotten about Soo Young.
She was slightly hurt at the fact in front of her, but she thought about it and agreed to what Min Jae said. Sung Jae and her had nothing to do with each other anymore and she should just remain civil and wait until he left.
"Min Jae-ah, what if he finds out about his relationship with Sami?!?!" she panicked at the thought about it again.
"He wont Soo Young-ah.. Only we both know who Sami's real father is so he isn't going to find out.. If he asks about Sami's dad just tell him that he died."
When Min Jae left, she tucked Sami in to bed and went out to get some fresh air. She recalled her memories with Sung Jae while looking at their photo they took at the studio 6 years ago and her tears couldn't stop flowing. "What should I do.." she vulnerably asked the sky above.
---
The next day, Sung Jae woke up and went to the kitchen where Soo Young was preparing Kimchi fried rice for the father daughter.
"Park Soo Young." he knew her name because the village head has mentioned it to him earlier.
Soo Young dropped her dishes in surprise and turned around to see Sung Jae standing in front of her.
"Did that man bother you again?" he asked her with a friendly smile.
"Which man?"
"The one with small eyes and a chin longer than a broom.... the one that I saw at the shop! Does he still harass you?" he questioned.
She then realised that he had already saw her the previous day.
"Ah right, I'm sorry I didn't formally introduce myself. Hi, my name is Yook Sung Jae."
"...What do you mean?" Soo Young looked very confused, "Are you serious right now?"
Sung Jae then analysed her confusion and asked her if they knew each other from before. It happened a lot with his friends. He then revealed to her...
"I basically only have six years of memory."
He told her that he had a brain surgery and had lost all the memories from before the surgery.
She felt her heart drop. She was speechless and tears were building up in her eyes. After their conversation and when Sung Jae left, her body weakened to the ground and she was left sobbing -- Partly out of relief, because then Sung Jae wouldn't know their true relationship, and also partly out of sadness, because he couldn't remember her at all.
Later on, Soo Young called Sami because it was time to give her her injection. Sami had to take shots everyday because she was born diabetic. Soo Young told Sami that since she was a special child of someone from another planet, she had to take it to make her stronger.
"Sami-ah, the oppa is not suitable to live with us.. Omma will find another place for him to stay but Sami can't throw a fit okay?" Soo Young told Sami while giving her the shot.
"Okay, even though i like Sung Jae oppa very much, I don't want Omma to be unhappy.." Sami replied while cupping Soo Young's cheeks.
Sung Jae saw the scene from outside and smiled to himself. "Though that woman is a little weird.. she's very gentle to her kid and they seem to have a good relationship."
He was then disturbed by the villagers outside the house, basically all the old aunties, who wanted to be his secretary for the case. However, Sung Jae rejected them because they didn't fulfil his criteria. He repeated what he wanted and everyone immediately shot eyes at Soo Young as they realised she qualified. Soo Young was quick to reject and gave many excuses but the villagers kept convincing her to do so to save their home. She then had no choice but to agree.
After that, she had to walk Sami to kindergarten and Sung Jae said he would accompany them.
On the way there, Sung Jae asked her about Sami's dad. Soo young didn't know what to say so she just told him that it was not his problem. It was getting late so Sung Jae carried Sami in his arms since it was quicker that way.
Soo Young's heart was heavy as she looked at the silhouette in front of her. How great would it be if they were together as a family for real.
When they arrived at the kindergarten, Sung Jae waited for Soo young outside. Min Jae showed up and asked him what he was doing there. Min Jae still doesn't know the truth about Sung Jae's memory. He thought that Sung Jae was here to take revenge and harass Soo Young for leaving him. Soo Young then appeared and told him the truth in private that he really couldn't remember her and assured him that everything will be okay.
