Sung Jae went to find Sae Ron and interrogated her but she couldn't recall Min Jae being the one who stabbed the dude -- all she remembered was the guy having lots of blood and Min Jae running with the dagger. Sung Jae noticed she kept fiddling with her amulet (the one that Min Jae gave her) and kept asking where her amulet was even when it was by her neck. Sung Jae had another suspicion and quickly asked his assistant to contact a psychologist.
They brought Sae Ron to the psychologist and gave her a check up. The doctor then revealed that Sae Ron really suffered from mental distress from the kidnap and abuse and would lock the memories that she didn't want to recall deep inside her. Sung Jae said that it's important that she recalled the exact scene soon because the court would open the next day.
"If I'm not wrong, I know what Min Jae is trying to hide," Sung Jae said, in which the psychologist nodded.
The next day, Sung Jae called the psychologist but she said that Sae Ron still hasn't recalled anything and would go crazy whenever she thought about the scene. Soo Young found Sung Jae and Seon Ho left them alone to talk.
Soo Young thanked him for what he had done and asked if he could stay back later at the court because she wanted to talk to him.
"We'll see how." Sung Jae responded.
The court started, and the prosecutor (opposition) stated clearly that Min Jae planned to kill Fang Ge and adding on to the fact that there was evidence for him wanting to escape. He hoped that the court would give a heavy sentence.
The judge asked if Min Jae pleaded guilty and Min Jae said yes, even though he knew that it would break his mother's heart.
Sung Jae's turn came and he said that Min Jae was just self-defencing himself, hence he hoped that the court would give him a lighter sentence, or no sentence at all. The opposition called in their first witness and it was the gangster's brother who stated clearly that Min Jae had a motive.
The testimony continued and Sung Jae tried to tell the court that it was just self-defence but it was a tough case as it wasn't in favour of Min Jae. Sung Jae then called in the third witness who was Soo Young, whose statement could prove that Min Jae wanted to own up, instead of wanting to escape as he himself said. Sung Jae wanted to assert the point that Min Jae's character was not someone who would plan a murder, so he asked Soo Young why she wanted to help Min Jae even though they're not related in any way.
Soo Young said that Min Jae helped her and Sami a lot and that without him, there's no way Sami and her could survive the six years. She also said that Min Jae's very honest, kind and upright, and there's no way he would kill others. Hearing this, Sung Jae's heart was internally breaking.
The opposition stood up and basically told the court to treat Soo Young's words as invalid because she had relationships with both Min Jae and Sung Jae. The opposition thus asserted his point again, that Min Jae had a motive, and he wanted to escape after murdering someone.
