Chapter 30

Conrad POV

"We found that Dr. Hunter was overdosing cancer patients with aggressive chemo" Ash said.

"Which is a medical fraud. Tough to prove particularly since Dr. Hunter keeps all of her patients records at her clinic" Devon said.

"And Dr. Pravesh just discovered that she's also been diagnosing healthy patients with cancer, which explains her miraculous cures because some of her patients were never sick to begin with" I said.

Bell looked at all of us. "Including Lily Kendall. She had a form of cancer that you can get from aggressive chemo" Nic said.

"Look, th..this is absurd. You're trying to tell me Dr. Hunter gave Lily Kendall cancer and then killed her to cover it up?" Bell asked.

"Lily was in the process of getting a second opinion. That oncologist would have demanded her records. Which would have e shown her original diagnosis" Nic said.

"Dr. Hunter consistently refused to share them. And Nic tried to get her to order after Lily died and Dr. Hunter set her up and had her arrested" Ash said.

"You're accusing Dr. Hunter of a cold blooded murder, one of the best Doctors in the hospital. Wouldn't believe that in a million years" Bell defended.

"It's not necessary that you believe us cause we've already contacted the FBI and they're getting warrant to seize Lane's records" Devon said.

Bell gave us a shocked look. "You called the FBI? Without telling me?" He asked.

"It's required by law considering what Dr. Pravesh discovered" Nic said. I took a step closer to him.

"We're here to make sure you remove all of Dr. Hunter's patients from her care. And if you don't, movie g forward, both you and Chastain will be liable" I said.

He looked a bit scared at us. He started pacing. "Okay, well, this....it's shocking. And I don't know what to believe. But I will suspend Dr. Hunter's privileges, pending a full investigation" he said.

We all nodded. "And I would ask you not to say anything. This is her career and Chastain's reputation that's on line. These accusations will have to be backed up with hard evidence" he said.

"They will be" Ash said.

I found Ash sitting on a couch in our lounge. I entered in.

"Hey" she greeted. "Hey" I said and sat beside her. "You didn't go home?" I asked.

"My shift starts back again in an hour. So guess I'm stuck here again" she said.

"How is Micah?" She asked. "Yeah, he's out of surgery. Needs to wake up" I said. She smiled.

"What?" I asked. She shook her head. "Micah and Mina. I'm so happy for them. Never thought they would make it" she said.

I looked at her. "Did you think we would make it?" I asked. She looked me in my eye.

"I wanted to make it. Been wanting it for a long time" she said. I took her hands.

"Did I make it?" She asked whispering.

"Yeah, you made it" I said. She smiled.

"You think we caught her? Lane?" I asked.

"Bell definitely got her. Which shows he'll do anything to stay in power. And him in power is bad" she said pulling her legs up and placing her head on my thigh lying down on the couch.

I stroked her hair " We've survived Bell for so much days, guess we'll have to survive more" she said softly. I kept stroking her hair thinking about it.

It has been a few minutes when Devon and Nic entered in. "Hey" I greeted both of them. They came and sat across us.

"Are you trying a lullaby?" Nic asked chuckling when Devon smiled.

I scrunched my eyebrows and bent down to see Ash sleeping. A smile formed on my face.

"She pulled two shifts. She starts another in an hour. She can close eyes for sometime." I said still stroking her hair.

"She's a tough one" Nic said. "Yeah she is" I said as Devon put the TV on.

Bell was giving a statement on Lane's issue. We watched it.

He very cleverly twisted the story saying everything was done in Lane's clinic and Chastain was no part of it.

He also told them that he called the FBI. "He's like a cat that always lands on his feet" Nic said.

"Lucky him, she's sleeping" Devon said. We all chuckled. Ash snuggled more in.

Ashley POV

I found Mina and Micah talking. I entered their room.

"There's my hot couple" I commented. "Don't you ever call us that" Mina said.

I looked at Micah. "I'm good. You can call us" he said and we hi-fived. Mina narrowed her eyes.

"So, how long has this been going?" I asked.

"Since we had coffee" Micah said. I raised my eyebrows.

"And when did this coffee happened?" I asked. They looked at each other.

"It's been sometime. Look can you stop questioning?" Mina asked.

"Okay..okay. I'm just happy for you guys." They smiled at me.

"Thank you Dr. King" Micah said. "Call me Ash. And hey...you're my team. I am going Mick Mina for the entire month with this" I said.

"Deal" Micah said showing a thumbs up. Mina gave me a hard look.

"You are unbelievable" she said. I   slowly retreated my steps. "Get used to it" I said turning around.

I found Nic walking towards me. "Hey, welcome back" I said.

"Good to be back." She said walking past me.

My pager beeped and it was Conrad. I walked further in search of him.

I walked past a call room when he pulled me in closing the door. Spinning me and connecting our lips.

I kissed him back with all my love. I broke out for air. We placed our foreheads against each other.

"I don't know how lucky I got. To get someone like you" he said. I placed a hand on his shoulder.

"And I don't know how lucky I got, to get you" I said.

"I'm glad you're mine" he said. I smiled looking at him. I leaned forward and kissed him again.

He put his hands on my hip pulling me close to him. "We still have Bell" I said.

"Yeah,...I kinda took care of it" he said. "Did you?" He nodded his head smiling.

"I did. Now shut up." He said connecting our lips again. Our pagers beeped.

"Ug...damn it" he groaned. We took out our pagers. "See you around" I said.

"See you around" he replied as we walked out. A nurse was moving a patient in a wheelchair who called me.

I followed him while Conrad went the other way. We both walked in opposite directions.

I turned back to look at him to see him looking at me already. We shared our smiles.

Now we have to run this hospital back again. Saving patients no matter what.
