I groan into my pillow and peel my eyes open. Working in fluttering stages, they finally stutter open. Slowly I roll over. My head throbs painfully in time with each breath. I do not want to be awake yet. But I'm too hungry to close my eyes again. So I move to the edge of my bed and haul myself up. I pull open my door slowly and walk out into the lit hallway. I frown and blink a couple times, the light bright enough only to aggravate my headache more. Dragging a hand down my face, I continue down the hallway and make a beeline to the kitchen.I hear someone talking over by the couch and television, but I don't bother to look in that direction. I don't really care enough to see who it might be. I open the cabinet and pull out my box of Coco Puffs and plop it onto the counter. Then I reach in the fridge and pull out the jug of milk. I return to the cabinet to grab a bowl, and the drawer for a spoon. I pour both the cereal and milk into the bowl and take a bite.
"Nice shirt, Pretty Boy." I stumble two steps to the sink and my cereal comes spewing out. I set my bowl and spoon down then slowly turn around. Standing in front of me, with her hands shoved into her back pockets, is Kayla. Man, what am I on?
"Kayla?" I mumble. She continues to smirk. I shake my head and blink three times. She's still standing there. Slowly I drop my eyes down to find out what shirt she likes so much. All I see is skin. I have no idea where my shirt is, but my jeans from last night are still slung low across my waist. I snap my eyes back up to hers and find her eyes distractedly roaming my chest.
"Like what you see, Good Girl?" I ask smirking at her. Her eyes jerk up to mine.
"Do you?" She retorts. I frown and glance away from her. But her light laugh echoes in my ears.
"Alright Princess, I'm heading out now for the food. You wanna stay here or come with?" Dominic asks walking up behind her. He slides up behind her and places a long kiss on her jaw. She smiles and looks sideways at him. I shake my head again, my glare falling into place. Her hand comes up and she hands Dominic a few bills. He snags them from her grasp and leans away from her.
"Wait. Why the heck is she here?" I ask, glaring at Dominic.
"I brought her here," he answers.
"To the apartment?" I fire off incredulously.
"No, to the strip club on 42nd. Obviously I brought her to the apartment, dimwit."
"Are you crazy?"
"I'm still here. You know, if you care at all," Kayla says quietly from below me. I glance down.
"You shouldn't be," I reply. She jerks back, with her eyes wide, straight into Dominic's chest. His hands come to her waist as he glares at me.
"She was going to wind up here eventually. I just moved things along."
"She was never going to end up here," I growl.
"Oh yeah? What about when she's in my bed?" I step forward, my fists clenching on their own accord. Kayla rips herself away from Dominic.
"Both of you stop it!" she shouts. "Mini Nic, just go get the food okay? And maybe grab some sunglasses or something to cover that bruise on your face." I smirk at a glaring Dominic. Someone was brilliant enough to rearrange his face last night.
"Yeah, Mini Nic, go get the food," I taunt. He steps forward with his fists out and ready. Kayla's hands slam into both our chests.
"No fighting! Geez, you guys are like children. Now grow up and get me some Chinese takeout already." Dominic scowls and backs away. Kayla's hand falls from his chest, but her other one stays on mine. He storms out of the apartment letting the door slam shut behind him. Kayla flinches at the sound then turns to me. Her eyes settle on my chest where her hands still rests, with her fingers splayed out across my skin. Color blooms across her cheeks and she yanks her hand away. "Sorry," she mutters.
