The final bell rings and we are all still on campus. I don't remember the last time this happened, or if it has ever happened for that matter. But for some reason we're here and the guys seem more nervous than they were last Friday night. Dominic comes into the back lot with another girl on his arm, but this time it's a tiny blonde. Instead of draping herself over him like most of the girls do, she walks on her own, simply holding into his arm. A few other girls start to glare at her as they pass. She doesn't seem to notice. Or maybe she just doesn't care. She smiles and laughs at something Dominic says and for a second I let an emotion other than indifference cross my face. He shouldn't be anywhere near her. No one sees my slip, they are too focused on Kayla.
"So what's the occasion?" she asks once in earshot.
"Does there have to be one?" asks Jax blinking at her almost innocently. She laughs and raises an eyebrow.
"Considering Mini Nic, came to retrieve me I'd say so."
"Well if you must know..." Bash starts, purposely trailing off to leave her hanging.
"Oh I must," she begs leaning forward, her eyes sparking in excitement.
"Your carriage awaits," Ryder says opening the passenger door of our car.
"All that suspense for a kidnapping? You know I'm kind of disappointed." But she steps forward anyways.
"We can't all fit," Bash mutters. I turn to him. He has a point. Kayla holds her breath, like she's trying not to laugh.
"I've got it!" Dominic shouts sliding into the passenger seat. His hands shoot out and wrap around Kayla's waist. He yanks her down into the car as she squeals.
"Well I guess that's one solution," Ryder mutters before slamming the door closed. The rest of us climb in. Jax takes the driver seat, seeing as he already has the keys clutched in his hand. While the rest of us slide into the back and I find myself slammed in between Ryder and Bash. I frown. Why am I in the middle again? Then I notice Kayla is sitting on Dominic's lap, with his arms acting as a seatbelt. Her backpack sits on her lap. My frown deepens. Jax backs out of the space and pulls out of the school.
"I'm sure you may curious as to why we are kidnapping you on this fine Thursday afternoon," Jax starts once we are on the road.
"The thought did cross my mind," Kayla replies.
"You may also be wondering why we requested a picture of the list last night and then said nothing," Bash adds.
"I believe I may have been a tad bit curious."
"Great, well... we've planned out the next item," Bash states. No one mentions the fact that they are trying to get through the list as fast as possible, or that this item was the second easiest thing to accomplish.
"Oh have you now?" Kayla drawls. Jax hums in agreement and flips on the turn signal. "So, Phoenix, are you willing to share these plans?" she asks.
"Who's Pheonix?" Ryder mutters. Bash leans forward.
"Nope, you'll find out when we get there," he says grinning.
"How come he gets a cool nickname?" Dominic whines. Kayla flicks his ear.
"You have a great nickname, Mini Nic." He mutters something that sounds suspiciously like "Do I feel mini to you?" I tell myself that isn't what he said, if only to avoid punching him in the face and risk hitting Kayla. We pull into the parking lot of our favorite bar in town and Kayla leans forward, shifting on Dominic's lap enough to make him smirk. I tear my eyes from his face and find Kayla's. Her eyes are wide as she practically throws herself through the windshield. She looks so alive.
