Jax's legs are thrown over the back of the couch, but he manages not to fall. His phone is held above his head, as he stares at the screen, and I'm counting down the seconds until it slips and smacks him in the face. Bash stretches out across the rest of the couch, his attention also on his phone. The speeding cars of Fast and Furious blend into the background noise. I slouch further into the chair, my fingers absently flipping my phone around in circles.
"Hey, would you look at that. There's an underground concert later tonight," Jax says.
"Okay," I drawl.
"I'm serious, this thing looks pretty cool. We should go."
"Hold up" Bash says, tapping furiously on his screen. "That's on Kayla's list."
"So we're going, great," Jax replies. "Let me get an address and-" the phone falls, smacking him in the face. "Aw man." I smirk. Jax shifts his position so he can sit up straight. "Okay I've found the address."
"How'd you find this thing?" Bash asks.
"Some guy DMed me." Jax shrugs. I raise an eyebrow.
"Kayla's in," Bash pipes up. I sit up straighter.
"What?" I ask, the word slipping out before I can blink.
"I texted her as soon as I found it on the list," Bash responds.
"Cool. It's starts at nine, so let Kayla know that too," Jax adds. I just sit there in silence. Jax looks up from his phone. "Wait the movie is still on?" he asks.
"I think its one of those channels that loops the same movie three times before they air the next one." I answer, flicking my eyes back to the television. I slouch back into the chair. And for a few minutes I watch the film before I find myself standing up and walking down the hall to my bedroom. Dominic comes out of his room. The two of us seem to stop and look at each other.
"I just got off the phone with Kayla," he says. I keep walking.
"Great, why should I care?" I retort.
"Well apparently we are going to concert tonight." I open my door and cross the threshold.
"So I've heard," I answer. He follows me to the doorway, preventing me from closing the door in his face. I bite my tongue and walk back to my closet. I dig through the clothes on my closet floor and pull up my leather jacket. I close the door to the closet and step back. I turn around only to find Dominic still leaning in my door frame. I raise an eyebrow and wait, knowing he's dying to say something. Once he's sure he has my attention he opens his mouth.
"I know what she's wearing," he states. I look away from him as I set my jacket on the bed.
"Send you a picture, did she?" I run my tongue along my bottom lip.
"Nope, she told me." My teeth clench together. I know exactly what he's trying to imply.
"Good for you," I force out. My voice betrays me anyways, coming out strained.
"Just thought you'd like to know." He hits the wood of the door frame and walks down the hall. I breathe deeply for thirty seconds then storm over to the door. A single moment of brilliance stops me before I slam it closed. But the moment is quickly over when I unlock my phone and pull up Kayla's contact. I press the call button, before I have time to think it through. I shove the phone to my ear. She picks up on the second ring.
"Pretty Boy?"
"K-kayla hey," I stutter out.
"You alright there?" she asks. I can hear her smiling on the other end.
