Kayla shifts her legs on the couch again, but keeps her head resting in my lap. Her fingers twist the rings on my hand, almost absentmindedly. Jax lounges in the chair as he scrolls through his phone. Occasionally, he looks up and his eyes meets Ryder's, who sits on the ground by Kayla's feet, until one of them looks away. Each time Kayla pokes Ryder on the head with her foot. He turns to glare at her before relenting and poking her foot in return. Dominic leans against the wall across from us, watching Kayla's hands.
"So who'd you fight today, Kyle?" Dominic asks. Kayla lowers my hand and leans up slightly.
"What?" she mumbles. I glare at him, knowing exactly what he's doing.
"No one," I growl.
"Come on, no one in this room is buying that."
"Do us all a favor and shut up, Dominic," I say. He smirks. Kayla drops my hand and sits up fully. I look to her.
"Pretty Boy, what's he talking about?" she asks quietly.
"Nothing," I answer.
"You don't know, Princess?" Kayla turns her head towards him, but she doesn't say anything.
"Dominic," I warn lowly.
"Kyle here only wears those rings for a fight." Kayla cocks her head at him.
"For a street fight?" she questions. Dominic smirks at her.
"What other fight would it be?" Kayla turns to me, keeping her head cocked.
"Why?" The question comes out soft, like she isn't mad just curious. And she lets those damn doe eyes unfold.
"They draw more blood." I answer. She looks at me and blinks, then she grins. She settles herself back in my lap and picks my hand up again. She twists one of the rings off my finger and slides it onto her own thumb. She raises her hand up in front of my face. I look down at her face to find her smirking up at me.
"Imma fight you," she says. I laugh at her and shake my head.
"Sure you are, Sweetheart." Kayla smiles wickedly and drops her hand.
"Hit me, Pretty Boy." I flick her nose and she giggles. I grin despite myself. Kayla stops laughing to smile up at me. "Why wear them now?" she asks. My grin falls and I look away from her eyes and to her hands, which still fiddle with the rest of my rings. You get nervous, La La. I shrug. One of her hands leaves mine and moves to the side of my face. I blink and look at her. She keeps smiling at me as she sits up. She leans in and I turn my face subconsciously, catching the corner of her lips with my own. She pulls away slowly, but stays close. Neither of us move. We just hover, close enough to share air. Her hand doesn't leave my face. I bring my own hand up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Hi," she whispers. My lip quirks up.
"Hi," I answer. Kayla bites her lip and grins. I grin back and lean in pressing my lips softly against hers. She giggles as she pulls away. Then her hands move to my shoulders and she twists, shifting to straddle me. She kisses me again as my hands drift down to rest against her waist. I tilt my head back to look at her properly. She's still grinning, her eyes sparking. She's here. La La is here. I lean forward and she crashes down to meet me. Softly. Quietly. I smile into her. She pulls away first. I see movement in the corner of my eye but I don't look away from Kayla, even as she turns her head to watch whoever it is.
"Bye Mini Nic!" she calls. I tilt my head back laughing. "What?" she questions. I level my head to look at her.
"You're horrible," I state. Her jaw drops, but she's fighting a smile.
