The blade shined with bright orange light, heating up my hand immensely, but causing no pain. The pack of Creeps that stared me down were unnerved by the revealing of my weapon. I twirled the scorching hot blade around my hand and fingers, showing off my skills toward the creatures that couldn't care less.

Quit with the thematics and get to it.

All four of them came at once, wasting no effort to try and overwhelm me. With three quick jabs of my Snow Chaser, the four mindless monsters dropped dead and dissolved into the air. I lifted my right ring finger, tugging on the bright, red glowing string that was not only tied around my finger, but was also connected to the stone bracer on my forearm. The dust inside the bracer went cold and stopped powering my blade, as it too went dark, and soon faded into useless particles.

Still no sign of anybody. No other students have crossed my path, surprisingly. I wish I wouldn't have to wait. Either let me run into her or just get it over with and meet someone else. Maybe Ozpin will let me choose my partner? We do have a mutual friend, after all.

I started on my way again, heading in a random direction. I was prepared to search for her, but as I walked underneath one of the hundreds of trees in the forest, I heard a quick rustling above my head. Before I could even look up to see if there was something stalking me, the face of a brunette girl appeared right in front of me. She was hanging upside down from the tree and our eyes met.

"Hi." She greeted.

I shut my eyes the moment I realized what had happened. "We didn't make eye contact." I declared.

I heard the tree rustle more and a thud on the grass. She'd landed and grounded herself in front of me. "Um, yeah. We did. You could've pierced my soul with that stare, bud." She denied my claim. She was right, but there's no proof we made eye contact, right?

"I was supposed to meet with my friend out here. Is there any chance we could pretend this didn't happen?" I asked. Please say yes.

"You know, I'm pretty sure Professor Ozpin is watching us. Sorry about your date." She apologized, jokingly.

I wasn't eager to laugh at the moment. "How do you know?" I asked back quickly.

"Well, I'd have to guess he's using his scroll for watching  over us. I don't know why else he would have it. All he did up on the cliff was sip his coffee." She explained.

I kept my eyes shut and thought over what she said. Before I could argue further she spoke again.

"I'm Liseran. You can call me Liz, if that floats your boat. You can also open your eyes, lover boy." Liseran suggested.

I opened my eyes and noticed she'd outstretched her arm and was offering a handshake. "Lover boy? My name is Aster Carraway and I graduated Pagoma Academy top of the class." I informed her.

"Wow, that's neat. Never heard of Pagoda Academy though. Is that in Atlas or something?"

"It's Pagoma, and as a matter of fact, yes, it is."

"Wonder how I guessed it." She said sarcastically, looking up and down my uniform.

I let out a long and deep sigh, "I guess we're partners, then. Let's get a move on." I rushed. There was nothing I could do about this. All I can do is make the best of it and hope Weiss ends up as my teammate.

I walked in the direction I had originally planned to go, and Liseran followed, unfortunately.
