“I won’t Sir. Now, I’ll take my squad in the vanguard, central district to be covered by Hanji and her troops. Left wing is Keith, right wing is Erwin and Mike will keep rear guard.” Levi draws on the map in Erwin’s pencil. “If we Attack here, and spread this way, we would be able to take more land and this mission wouldn’t be a total waste.” Looking at Erwin, Levi knew the commander wouldn’t fight his strategy, because even though he only just came up with it, it followed procedures and looked plausible with the amount of soldiers we had. It wasn’t foolproof, but as close as it could get if things only went a little pearshaped.
Erwin listened to him and watched what he was doing on the map as he thought about it. "Alright, that's a good idea. We'll do this. Now we'll talk about this tomorrow at our meeting. I suggest you guys go inform your squad and train them." He said as hanji got up running out. "SQUAD!!!" She yelled running out to her squad. She stood excitedly like usual she wasn't excited over the fact that they had to do such a dangerous mission. But she was just hyper as usual.
Levi's squad was in the training field training since they herd he was always the elite squad. So they wanted to keep it up. But they didn't know they were about to go on this suicide mission
“I’m going to be honest here. This is a suicide mission. We are the vanguard in an expedition in reclaiming 30 square miles of Titan territory. I’m sorry and I will be here with you and I WILL HAVE YOUR BACKS! It is under commission of the king that this plan goes through, though I do not agree with it. We start training immediately.” Taking off in his gear, he leads a full 24 hour training session with his squad through the Forrest near by. He doesn’t see Tyleen for that time but his thoughts keep drifting back to her now and again.
The squads nodded at Levi they were worried about the mission but had faith in their leader that they would be okay and make it through.
Mike and hanji found tyleen and hanji took her for the training having her train with her squad. She herd about the mission and she couldn't like. The red head was nervous she was no where near ready. But she would have to suck it up and be ready when the day came. Her mind drifted to Levi. She was worried. Yes he was known for being good at his job but anything could happen.
Coming back from the training session a few days later, the thing going for longer than expected, he immediately went t see Hanji to ask about the progress of the rookies, but seeing Tyleen training with her group he went up to her.
“How are you?”
Tyleen was training with hanjis squad and on her off time just to make sure she was ready. Not seeing Levi for a few days she focused on training.
When Levi came over she looked at him. "I'm alright." She said. "You?" She couldn't tell him she was nervous, scared, confused about the mission. She's a Hyde. What would they think if she said that? So she just tried to avoid the topic
“Nervous. This is a suicide mission. But, you’re in the rear guard. You’ll be safe at least.” Levi opened up to her. She could see slight body cues to show she was nervous too, so he added the last part to remind her that she’d be safe. “You’re also with Mike. He’s a great leader and if you follow his directions you’ll come out of this.”
When he said he was nervous she nodded a bit in agreement with him relaxing more by him. When she herd she'd be safe. She was a bit relief. "What about you? Where are you going to be?" She asked accidentally letting out a concerned voice since she was concerned. "And alright I'll follow his directions." She said to him
“Front guard.” His voice was strange. Sad, scared, brave, relieved and angry at the same time. Levi was sad that he knew he wasn’t going to make it, scared to die horribly, brave that he was doing this for humanity and how he’s going to keep Tyleen safe, relieved that hed saves her from the front guard position and the suicide mission that cane with it. And he was angry. Angry at everything. Titans, Erwin, the fucking King... it wasn’t fair.
Tyleen herd where he was as she looked at him her eyes were tinted with sadness and worried. "Can't you be in rear guard?" She asked looking at him.
Tyleen was scared she'll loose him. The only person that understood. The only person she liked. He has been there for her and came to check up on her. She was worried about his chance on survival
“No. I cane up with the plan. My squad are all seasoned soldiers. If anyone has even a chance of surviving this position it’s us. But don’t worry. I’ll be back.” He reached out to touch her shoulder as some form of calming gesture, but instead pulled her in for the hug that they both really needed.
Tyleen listened to him she was still worried and didn't want him up front. When he reached out and pulled her into a hug she tensed up to push out but she relaxed in his arms and hugged him back leaning her forehead against his chest as she let out a soft breath. Tyleen needed a hug and she felt safe and secure in his arms. Like all her worries and fears were gone. Tyleen knew as soon as he'd let go she'd miss his arms around her
“I-I’m sorry. That was inappropriate.” With that he walked off quickly.
Levi didn’t know what to do. He said he wouldn’t get into trouble for associating with her. He promised Erwin. But, fuck it. I need to protect her. She’s young, and shouldn’t be here. Despite being a Hyde she’s still a kid. And that, that means she is going to survive this....but I probably won’t.
Tyleen frowned. "No... Don't be sorry.. I liked the hug.." she said softly but seen him already walking off. She felt bad for making him feel bad. Tyleen was scared she wouldn't see him again and she just wanted him around. Ty would apologize later for being so standoffish and rude towards him. Tyleen wanted to be in the same squad as him to know he'll be okay.
After training ended she went to his office figuring he'd be in there as she softly knocked on the door.
“Come in” There was a call from inside. It was Levi.
She sound was slightly muffled and there were other strange sounds going on. Scratching and something being dragged
Tyleen listened hearing him muffled with strange sounds she slowly opened the door as she stepped in glancing around to see what the scratching and digging some. "Corporal? Is this a bad time? I can come by later" she said it was strange hearing him muffled with scratching and things sounding like it was being dragged
He looked up from his cleaning to see who was at the open door. His heart fluttered as he saw her. But then it sank. He was cleaning his office as a nice relief from the stress of the up coming expedition and the drama within himself around Tyleen.
“No. Now is fine. How can I help you?”
Tyleen nodded seeing him clean as she stood looking at him. "I just wanted to come and apologize for being rude and making things so hard here and for making things awkward earlier. And I wanted to say be careful and come back alive and in one piece..." She said. "The king is putting us through dishonorable circumstances.. but you our of everyone here hold the most honor with it." She said. Tyleen was so use to talking about honor and things like that from her clan and before battle
Tyleen frowned slightly. "Well.. the hug made me feel better.." she admitted softly even though every fiber of her being was telling her not to tell him. Seeing him clean more she assumed he was busy. "But good luck out there." She said as she walked out since she didn't want to bother him. He was right he was her superior so she shouldn't be trying to get close when like friends. That's inappropriate, and could get him and her in trouble and maken missions harder. She walked down the hall lighting a cigarette lost in her thoughts
Having thought about what she said, Levi realised something. Friends wasn’t the right word... it was something else. She reminded him of home, of all the good things he’d lost and he found them again. He knew what he was feeling now.
“Ahh fuck. If I’m dying, I’m going out in a Big Bang. I know what im going to do. Because, I’m not dying with out showing her.”Tyleen sat outside as she was lost in thought. He did remind her of the underground and made things seem like it'll be okay. He reminded her of home of the life she still had. And she had someone to talk to about things. Tyleen closed her eyes leaning her head back hoping he'd be okay out there. He was in the very front. And this was a dangerous enough mission without him being up there. She wanted to be with him but knew she'd just be dead weight up there. But she had to be there, what if he got hurt? Or she could be the one that took the fatal hit instead of him? She was new her death wouldn't make much of an impact. But his death would he is a ranking member and admired by everyone
