Destiny's POV

After a couple minutes of driving down the road towards my parent's house, we finally arrived. Denise parked her car in the driveway.

"Stay here. I'll be back in a few minutes," I said. I didn't wait for an answer as I opened the passenger's door and got out of the car. I walked over to the sidewalk that lead up to the front door of my parent's house. I followed the path until I reached the front door. I stood in front of it for a few seconds before nervously knocking on the door. I heard footsteps coming closer to the door before Rose finally opened it. She smiled when she saw me.

"Hey, Des," she greeted me.

"Hey Rose, I just came by here to get some of my things for the apartment," I said. She nodded, but right about as she was about to step aside, my mother came up behind her and stood right in front of me. She was holding a hand towel in her right hand and was wearing her apron. She was probably working in the kitchen when Rose opened the door. She crossed her arms and looked at me with hate in her eyes.

"What are you doing here," she questioned harshly. Hmm where do I start...?

"Well, I live here...for now," I said. She took the hand towel that she had in her right hand and swatted me in the face with it, hard. It was so hard that it even stung a little. I quickly took my hand, lifted it up to my face, and slowly started rubbing it.

"Don't back-sass me," my mother said. I saw Rose trying to wrestle the towel out of my mother's hands before hot, stinging tears of confusion and regret blocked out my vision. I quickly started wiping the hot tears out of my eyes. I saw that Rose had finally ripped the towel out of my mother's hands. She glared at me.

"Get the things you need and then get out," she said. I rushed by her and Rose, and quickly went to my room. I grabbed some things that I could put in the apartment, and put them in two large bags. I heard my door swing open, and turned and saw Rose standing in the doorway. She came up to me, sat down on the side of the bed where I was sitting, and hugged me.

"I'm sorry," she whispered in my ear. I didn't really want to talk so I just nodded. She leaned back and stared at me in the eyes.

"Are you ok?" she asked. I nodded again. "Ok," she said as she got up and left my room. I gathered my things that I had collected for the apartment, and opened the door and carried the two bags out of my room. I went to go say bye to Rose before heading out the door towards Denise's car. I opened the door behind the passenger's seat and began placing the two large bags in the seat. I closed that door and crawled into my seat.

"Hey did you get all of your stuff?" Denise asked me. I nodded.

"Yeah. I got a lot of stuff," I said. She nodded.

"Ok. Let's go," she said as she backed the car out of the driveway.

We finally reached the apartment after about a five minute drive and Denise parked the car in the driveway. I got out of the car and opened the back seat door. I got out the two bags that I had brought from my parents house. We went inside the apartment, and I started to unpack my things. Just then Denise came up to me. She grabbed my shoulders-which stopped me from unpacking-and turned me around so that I was facing her.

"Are you ok?" she asked me. I nodded. She shook her head. "No. You're not ok. Did something happen when you were at your parents?" she asked. I lied and shook my head. She looked away from me. I couldn't read her mind because when I get nervous certain abilities, such as mind reading and being able to tell what they feel, get blocked. It become's extremely frustrating and overwhelming to the point where I just stand there quietly, not moving a single inch, until things start to clear up.

Denise looked back at me.

"Hey. I think that I got something to cheer you up. I was thinking that on Thursday you, me, and Rose, if she wants to go, could go get the tips of our hair dyed," she said.

Well I wasn't expecting that.

"Sure. I guess that that would be fun. I'll text Rose and ask her if she wants to come," I said. I got out my iPhone and texted Rose:

Hey! Denise and I are going to get the tips of our hair dyed Thursday. Do you want to come and get yours dyed too?

About a minute after I sent her the text, she replied:

Yah! That'd be cool.

I turned to Denise.

"Well I guess we're getting the tips of our hair dyed Thursday," I said.

This is going to be interesting.
