Destiny's POV
School was finally over after the long agonizing classes and all of the kids piled into the bus. Denise and I took our usual spots and Josh followed us.
"Any more room?" he jokingly asked.
"Yeah," I said, moving to one side of the large seat. I ended up being on the left, Denise was in the middle, and Josh was on the right.
Aw. They're sitting by each other.
We all talked for a while until we got to Denise's stop. She stood up.
"Well here's my stop," she said, making her way out of the seat.
"Ok, I'll see you after my volleyball practice," I said as she made her way down the row of seats. Josh looked at me confused.
"You guys still have practice? I thought the season was over," he asked.
"Yeah seasons over, but coach still makes us practice," I said. We talked for a few minutes before we arrived at my stop. It must have been Josh's stop too because as soon as I stood up to get off the bus, he stood up too.
"Is this your stop too?" I asked, even though I was almost certain that he was the kid moving in next door.
"Yeah," he said as he pointed to the house across from my parents, "that's my house." I nodded.
I knew it.
We got off the bus.
"That's my house," I said, pointing to the house directly across from his.
"Well I guess we're neighbors," he said smiling.
"Yah I guess so." I was about to ask him something but instead I said: "Well I got to go to volleyball practice. I'll see you later," I said with a wave.
"Ok see ya," he said, returning the wave. I ran inside and grabbed all the things I needed for practice. I hurried out into the garage and got my bike. I wheeled it out to the driveway and hopped on it and started pedaling quickly.
-
I got there just in time. I ran into the gym and went to the locker room. I quickly changed into my clothes for practice. Then, I ran out onto the court.
"Your late again, Destiny," Coach said to me, "run five laps."
"Yes ma'am," I said as I started to jog the laps around the gym. I don't see why I have to jog. I wasn't even late. Well here we go again...
-
After a two hour sentence of torture, I finally ran, or walked I should say, to my bike and started pedaling to the apartment. I didn't even bother to change because, first of all it would just be wasting time when I could be riding to the apartment, and second of all, all the girls in there would just bully me.
After about five minutes of pedaling, I finally arrived at the apartment. It actually didn't look too bad. It was a white building with a black roof and door. There was a concrete path leading up to the door and a silver car in the small driveway, which I'm guessing is Denise's. I got off my bike and started to walk up the path leading to the door. I knocked on the door and it opened to a smiling Denise.
"Hey!" she greeted.
"Hey," I said back.
"Come in," she stepped aside, letting me through the door.
The front door opened up into a living room-looking area. It had a grey couch and recliner, like Denise had said, accompanied with two chairs to match. There was also a reasonable sized TV in the front of the room.
"Let me show you the rest of the apartment," she said, and began to lead me around. Besides the living room, there was a bathroom, a bed room, a laundry room, an extra room, a kitchen, and a dining room. The bed room had two beds. One of them already had blankets and pillows on it. I was guessing that that one was Denise's. The kitchen was small, but it wasn't that bad. It had a small stove, a refrigerator, and a microwave. The dining room had a table and six chairs, pretty mainstream. Finally the laundry room had a washer and a dryer.
"This place is pretty cool," I said. She smiled.
"Yeah. So do you want to go get some stuff from your parent's house? I have my car parked outside," she said. I'm sure that the happy expression that was on my face dropped as soon as she mentioned my parents, because she started looking at me a little worried.
"What's wrong? Is it something I said?" she asked. I just shook my head.
"No, you didn't do anything. It's just," I sighed," it's just my parents. That's what I was going to tell you," I said. She looked at me even more worried.
"Why? What happened?" she asked, taking a seat on the couch. I sighed and sat beside her.
I told her about everything that had happened last night. About my mother and father telling me what they really thought, about Rose yelling at them in the kitchen and afterwards her coming in and telling me about her and Jonas. She looked at me wide eyed the whole time. My voice cracked a lot while I was telling the story, especially when I was telling her about my parents, but I didn't care. So many things didn't seem to matter now. When I was a kid everything seemed to matter, but all of that has withered away to nothing. When I finished with the story, Denise looked like she had just been slapped in the face.
"How could they say that to you?" she asked. I shrugged. She just looked at me in shock.
"I can't believe that they did that," she frowned. I nodded, not wanting to talk at the moment. She sighed. "Well do you want to not go to your parent's?" she asked me, a concern look on her face.
"N-no, it's fine," I said.
"Are you sure?" she asked.
No.
"Yeah," I lied.
"Ok. Let's go get it over with then," she said. We walked out of the apartment. Denise locked the door and handed me another key. "Here's the your key to the apartment," she said. We walked out to her car. She got in the driver's seat and I got in the passenger's seat. She started the car, backed out of the driveway, and started down the road to my parent's house.
Hey
ily
see ya soon.
