Chapter 7: Emotions You Can't See

Finally Cuphead and Cherry made their way back home under the night sky. Gently they pried the door open to see Elder Kettle asleep on his armchair. Mugman was sitting on the sofa looking down at his lap, he was twiddling his fingers together also the trying to calm himself down. King Dice was sitting on the opposite end to Mugman, his head was tilted back resting on the back cushion, while his arm was draped over the arm of the sofa. His eyes were closed, as if he was thinking of something. Like lightning Mugman Snapped his head towards the door.

"Cuphead" Shouted Mugman as he jumped of the sofa and ran towards Cuphead, tackling him and taking him down to the ground.

This caused both Elder Kettle and King Dice to become awake and watch the situation unfold. Cherry had her back to Elder Kettle and King Dice, watching Cuphead and Mugman having a brotherly hug while sprawled out on the floor. She giggled slightly and continued to watch the brothers on the floor.

"I was so worried about you Cuphead" Cried Mugman as he buried his head into Cuphead's neck, a couple of tears fell down his face.

"I'm fine Mugman... I just..." Cuphead Said as if he was lost for words, until he looked up a Cherry who was smiling down at him.

"I just needed a better perspective on some problems" Continued Cuphead as he gave Cherry a small nod and a smile while he mouthed the words 'Thank You'.

Cherry smiled at him and gave him a nod. Suddenly she felt a pair of strong arms wrap around her waist from behind, she shrieked slightly and looked over her shoulder. Cherry relaxed slightly and rest her head back against King Dice's chest.

"How are you doing?" Said King Dice as he looked down at Cherry resting against his chest, peacefully and calmly almost like a doll.

"I'm alright Dice" Replied Cherry as she looked up at him and gave his a quick kiss on his jaw line, as that was the only thing she could reach.

Both of the turned back to look back at Cuphead and Mugman, still on the floor sharing a brotherly moment. Elder Kettle came and stood next to King Dice and Cherry also watching his boys on the floor.

"Well I don't know about you lot but I'm going to head to bed" Said Elder Kettle as he slowly walked over to the stairs and walked up the first couple of them.

"Good night Elder Kettle" Cuphead, Mugman, and Cherry all said in unison as they looked towards the stairs, making sure he was alright.

"We're gonna head to bed as well... Night you two" Said Cuphead as him and Mugman picked themselves up off the floor and started walking towards the stairs.

"Night boys" Replied Cherry as she gave the pair of them a small smile, slowly she turned around to face into King Dice' chest.

"I'm gonna head to bed as well... you're welcome to stay if you want to" Said Cherry as she looked up at King Dice, her eyes shining in the light of the moon coming through the window.

"Very well... as long as you don't mind" Replied King Dice as he wrapped his arms around Cherry's waist pulled her closer to him.

"Of course I don't mind Dice" Said Cherry as she intertwined her fingers with King Dice's fingers and gently guided him towards the stairs.

The pair smiled at each other as they walked up the stairs and towards Cherry's room. Gracefully she opened the door and continued to guide King Dice into her room. Every wall was covered in drawings from pencil, black and white, to colour there was a verity of all kinds. King Dice looked around around the room amazed by the drawings plastered on the walls. The floor was covered in balls of paper, with the faint silver glow of the moonlight.
