Chapter 10: More Than Meets The Eye

It had been a couple of hours later, Cherry, Cuphead and Mugman were all asleep. Cuphead was on the floor, Cherry on the armchair and Mugman was resting on Cherry's torso. More of Cherry's friends had come around to see her. Cala Maria, Baroness Von Bon Bon, Sally Stage-play, and The Root Pack. King Dice still hadn't come back from the Casino and he was oblivious to all that had happened this morning.

Elder Kettle and Cagney had told the others what had happened this morning. All of them were in shock when they heard it. Cherry woke up from her nap and looked around the room at everyone.

"Hey Cherry... how are you?" Said Cala Maria as she went over to Cherry and placed a hand on her shoulder, a concerned look covered her face.

"I'm alright... just a little weak that's all" Replied Cherry as she looked up towards Cala Maria, giving her a weak smile, Cherry felt like her life had literally been drained out of her.

"I'll make some candy tea for everyone" Said Baroness Von Bon Bon as she got up from her seat and went into the kitchen to brew some of her candy tea.

The room was extremely dark. No lights were turned on, the curtains were still drawn letting in tiny amounts of light from the slits in the curtains. Soon everyone one was saying 'Happy Birthday' to Cherry trying to make her feel better after the attack that morning. Suddenly the front door opened letting a light rays fill the darken room. Everyone turned their attention to the door to see King Dice standing there, with a gift under his arm.

"Well, well, well... looks who's finally returned" Cagney said sarcastically as he glared towards King Dice who was shutting the front door.

"What's with the hostility?" Replied King Dice as he looked towards Cagney with a raised eyebrow and a confused look on his face.

"Better question... where were you this morning?" Snapped Cagney as he crossed his arms over his chest, glaring towards King Dice.

"I was at the Casino sorting some things out, why?" Replied King Dice as he edge his way towards Cagney and the other, starting to become confused with what was going on.

"Your girl almost lost her soul this morning... and you were no where to be seen" Said Cagney as he looked towards his side, not making eye contact with King Dice.

"That's enough you two" Shouted Cala Maria as she glared at Cagney then over towards King Dice.

"Cherry doesn't need this right now... she doesn't need you two bickering and arguing over nothing" Continued Cala Maria as she kept on looking back and forth between the pair of them.

"I'm sorry Dice" Said Cagney as he looked over towards King Dice, the guilt now starting to well up inside him.

"No... I'm the one that should be sorry... I should have been with her this morning" Replied King Dice as he glanced at the wall next to him, the guilt starting to consume him on the inside.

"Dice" Said Cherry as she looked over towards him from the chair she was sitting in, she could tell he was starting to blame himself.

King Dice placed his gift down on a table by the door and walked over towards Cherry. Cuphead and Mugman moved away, they went and sat on the arms of the sofas. Cherry stood up but with her still being weak she lost her balance. Quickly King Dice caught Cherry in his arms and held her close to his chest.

"Take it easy Doll" Whispered King Dice into Cherry's ear as he sat down in the armchair with Cherry sitting down on highs lap, resting against his torso.

Suddenly Baroness Von Bon Bon came in with a tray of candy tea. She walked around handing everyone a cup of tea. Soon everyone seemed cheery and happy enjoying everyone's company. Cherry opened up the gift the everyone had gotten her, she left King Dice's gift until last. When she lifted the lid off the box she saw one of her drawings resting on top of some fabric. Carefully she picked the drawing up and inspected it.
