Chapter 6: Back To Collect A Debt

Suddenly the door to the Devil's office flung wide open. King Dice, Elder Kettle, Cuphead, and Mugman were standing in the doorway to the office. Cherry's head snapped towards the door, while the Devil's was a slow and dramatic turn as a devilish smile covered his face.

"Get away from her" Snapped Cuphead as he point his finger gun towards the Devil, charged and ready to fire within a couple of seconds.

The Devil chuckled and stood up, grabbing Cherry's arm and bringing her up with him. Cuphead and Mugman were ready to fire at any second. King Dice was looking towards Cherry, scanning up and down trying to work out if she was injured or not. That's when he noticed a couple of black vein piercing out from the top of her shirt. The Devil wrapped and arm around Cherry's waist and pinned her against his chest. Cherry could see Cuphead was about to fire without hesitation.

"Cuphead don't" Shouted Cherry, but before she could finish Cuphead had already fired, the shot just missed the Devil's head and burned a tiny circle into the wall.

The Devil glanced over his shoulder at the smoke coming of the wall. He turned his head back an unamused look covered his face. Cuphead had rage coursing through his entire body, King Dice on the other hand could see the Devil was planning something.

"Wrong move..." Said the Devil as he continued to glare at the group who were still standing by the door, to cautious to approach the Devil.

Cherry gasped as the pain from her chest came back to course through her body. Her heart and veins turning a midnight black once again, clutching her teeth shut trying not to scream out in pain. The group by the door were horrified by the site, the black veins slowly crept up towards Cherry's neck now becoming more visible. King Dice's eyes were almost shaking in their sockets, but he vaguely remembered seeing this before but he could quite remember where. Cuphead was now feeling stupid for attempting to shoot the Devil to scare him, Mugman felt the anxiety grow inside of him.

The Devil finally stopped and Cherry relaxed slightly feeling weak like she could shatter into a thousand shards. Her breathing was heavy and her vision slightly blurred from the tears threatening to split from her eyes. Finally the Devil released Cherry from his grasp and she collapsed to the floor.

"I'll be back... Debt Collector" Said The Devil as he glared down at Cherry sprawled out on the floor, then vanished into a cloud of smoke.

Quickly King Dice, Elder Kettle, Cuphead, and Mugman all rushed over towards Cherry and knelt down beside her.

"I'm fine guys... really don't worry about it" Said Cherry as she tried to pick herself up off the floor, failing completely and falling straight back down onto the floor.

"You're not fine Cherry" Replied King Dice as he picked Cherry up slightly and she rested against his arm for support.

"I'm so sorry Cherry" Said Cuphead as a look of guilt covered his face, feeling like it was his fault this happen.

"It's fine Cuphead" Replied Cherry as she gestured for Cuphead to come closer so she could give him a hug to try and make him feel slightly better.

Cuphead scooted a little closer to Cherry and she wrapped her arms around him, trying to give him a little comfort. She could see he was feeling guilty over the whole situation.

"It's not your fault this happened okay... I had this coming from the start" Continued Cherry as she ran a hand up and down Cuphead's back, then she rested her head against King Dice's shoulder.

"What if I wasn't such an idiot and made the deal with the Devil to begin with... none of us would be here now" Cried Cuphead as he shot up and out of the Devil's office quicker than lighting.
