Tris stood outside of a bus stop, the sky was grey and the air was thick. The weather had decided to make a change overnight, leaving everyone who thought outside was a good idea to later on regret it.
It was pouring down with rain, and Tris was waiting for her bus, which was now exactly an hour and twenty-six minutes late. She needed this bus to be early, she needed to get to where she had to be on time. But today wasn't her day, obviously.
For starters, today was the day she finally went to college. But she didn't want Sharon taking her, so she decided on public transport instead, absolutely genius on her behalf. Her suitcase was soaking wet and her duffle bag clung to her side, also only being partly wet. That was all she had brought with her to take to college, because what was in the two bags was all she had. Some life, huh?
The rain started to get harder, and Tris just sighed and pulled her hood over her head. This wasn't the worst situation she'd been in, stuck in the rain, waiting for a bus to get to college. If anything this was a good day compared to most.
After about another ten minutes, the bus finally arrived and Tris couldn't have been more realved. She quickly jumped on and paid for her ticket, making her way to the back of the bus to take a seat. She threw her bags onto a seat and sat down, and threw her head back to look up at the roof, her hood falling off in the process.
"You headed to Adams?" A voice asked beside her, Tris' head snapped up and saw a boy smirking at her, he looked like he'd been stuck in the rain as well. His blonde hair stuck to his forehead and his clothes weren't exactly dry.
"What do you me-"
"Adams State College, you headed there?" The boy cut her off, frowning a little but soon it was replaced by a small smirk, "You thought I meant Adam as in a person, didn't you?" His smile grew bigger with humor.
Tris felt redness crawling into her cheeks, she quickly shook her head. "I knew what you meant." She lied, she didn't know that he meant that, but she didn't want to look like an idiot.
"I'm August." He held his hand out to Tris, she looked at it for a little bit before shaking it.
"Tris." She smiled.
August nodded and moved to sit next to her, putting her bags on the floor along with his. "I'm going there too if you were wondering." He raised and eyebrow at her, as if she was meant to ask that. But in all honesty she couldn't care less, she wasn't going to college to make friends. She was going to get a better education to get out of this hell hole.
Tris didn't respond to him, she just stared at her feet hoping he'd get the hint that she didn't want to talk. But clearly he didn't get it.
"What are you studying?" August asked, making himself more comfortable in the hard leather seat.
She sighed, "I'm going to study English, Maths, Psychology and Advanced Arts."
"Advanced Arts? You must be good." August smiled and nudged her lightly in the shoulder.
Tris just smiled, "What about you?"
August shook his head and smirked, "Nothing as exciting as Advanced Arts, but Advanced English, Maths Studies, Biology, Health and Italian." He shrugged his shoulders as if it were nothing, but Tris could tell this kid was smart, hell, he was in most advanced classes and taking a language.
"Italian?" Tris questioned.
"I've always wanted to go there, and possibly live there. So why the hell not take a class on it eh?" He smiled and pulled out a pair of headphones, handing her the left ear one. "Do you like Vampire Weekend?"
