When you start a new part of your life you don't expect anything to really change, like, do you really think that one small thing, for example, would you think that climbing a tree would change your life? No, you wouldn't. It's a tree? What the hell is a tree going to do to you? Nothing, but if your footing is even the slightest bit wrong you could fall from that tree, and what happens after that, well, the possiblities are endless.

That's life, that's Tris's life. Ever since she could remember she was claimed as weak and unable to fend for herself. But no one knew that she was actual one of the strongest people you'd meet, everything she had gone through, with her mother, with her father, absolutely everything was covered up by her exterior.

But right now, as she sat on the dusty old couch in her dorm room, everything was slowly starting to show. Tris clung to her legs and rocked back and forth slowly, she didn't want to be here, she wanted to go home. But if she went home she's have to deal with what she came here to leave in the first place, she basically felt stuck between a rock and a hard place.

It had only been three weeks at Adams State and she knew was already losing it, classes were starting to get harder and social wise everything was a mess. Lola had left Tris alone for only two hours and she felt lost without one of her only friends here at the college. Lola had other friends, hell, Lola was friends with the whole school so Tris was surprised she even talked to her. Tris understood Lola didn't have a lot of time for her, no one ever did really.

August was basically missing in Tris's eyes, she hadn't seen or spoke to him in almost a week. She did blame herself for that, all she had to do was go across the courtyard and knock on his door. And if he wasn't there, his roommate would let her in. She had seen Michael in the hallways on the way to class almost everyday, but they only communicated in small nods and kind smiles. Tris guessed he was aware that she was focusing on her school work and would visit when she could, she hoped August thought that too.

But of course Tris couldn't bring herself to leave her own room to see them, every time she thought about it a shiver ran down her spine and she felt like throwing up.

Maybe all the things people said about her were true, maybe she was weak. It would make sense, she thought.

Tris didn't want to be weak though, he wanted to be strong and face things when they got scary. But she couldn't this time, this time there was something bigger at play, something that was more threat to her life than ever before.

But of all things, it was a fucking boy that was the reason behind the fear.

Tris sighed and tugged at the faded strands of pink hair that fell over her face, she hated it here and she didn't want too. She wanted to love it here, she wanted to make friends and do well in her classes and finally have the future she dreamed of. But instead she spent sleepless nights thinking of a boy who was completely insane.

Luke was right with one thing, that stupid nickname he called her. Doll, Tris knew why he called her that, she had been called that before by a few people. Because of her pale skin and the fact she was weak as piss, but Luke called her that because he knew he could crack her. He knew he could break through her porcelain skin and get her where it really hurts, he was going to be in her veins and she wouldn't be able to escape.

Tris wanted to tell someone about what happened that night at the shack, but she knew if she did Luke would find out before the information was sent to someone who could do something about it.

He would get her, and she would be dead. Nothing more to it.

Why doesn't she just leave, you ask? I've been asking myself that question and I'm sure as hell Tris has been as well.

Tris knew if she left, she would have to go home and back to what she left behind to come here in the first place. Leaving would be the easy way out, leaving would make things almost normal again, but for some strange reason she didn't want normal. She came here for adventure and a new start, even though this isn't exactly what she hoped for, it was a change that was almost like a drug to her, and she couldn't explain why.

Tris rolled over on the couch and looked at the -barely working- clock that sat on the coffee table, 8:45pm it read. Taking a deep breath she sat up and decided maybe to go to bed.

She walked into the tiny bathroom her and Lola shared, grabbing her tooth brush and brushed her teeth, she usually didn't brush them at night but she needed a distraction. In that moment she heard a knock at the door, she spat out the tooth paste in her mouth and wiped her mouth quickly. "It's open, come in." She half yelled, making sure her voice would crack from not really speaking all day and from all the emotions she was feeling, it did though.

The sound of footsteps and a loud thud echoed through the room, Lola must be back. Lola usually came back late on a Friday night with shopping, mainly food, for the two of them.

Tris grabbed a hair-tie and threw her hair up in a ponytail, and made her way out of the bathroom "So what did you bu- Calum?"

There, on the floor in front of her, was the dark haired boy. He was on his knees bent over, clutching onto his stomach in pain. Tris quickly ran over to him and placed a hand on his shoulder, he whimpered at the contact.

"Calum? Calum, what happened?" Tris asked panicked, and of course extremely concerned.

Calum just looked up at her with blood shot red eyes, his lip was spilt open and the side of his face was covered in bruising. "Augu-u-ss-st..." Was all he could manage.

And with that, he fell to the floor completely, his breath stopping.
