I went for a ride with Flash and decided to take the road through the forest to visit Blake and Miranda. The first time I went this way was a night when I was about ten years old. Blake came back from summer camp. It had been the first time we've ever been apart for so long since I was born. Blake was a year older than me, but we were always close.
My mom didn't let me see him as soon as he got home because it was late at night. I waited for them to fall asleep and snuck away to his house through the forest so I couldn't be seen. I was a ten year old who was afraid of the dark but the desire to hug and see Blake, after four long weeks, was stronger. I got lost. I spent an hour trying to find the way out but the more I did more desperate I felt. I sat down under a tree and started to cry. The sound of footsteps breaking branches scared me. I couldn't breathe well as I clutched my hand on my mouth to stop myself from screaming. I stayed there quiet when the body of an eleven year old Blake crossed running in front of me with a flashlight. I yelled his name and he stopped to look at me. He smiled and it only grew wider when he hugged me. He held my hand and took me back home. The funny thing was that he had waited for his parents to fall asleep too so he could come to see me. We laid in my bed while he told me everything that happened in summer camp and the little girl he fell in love with. It was the first time I felt something like jealousy in my young age.
I rode to their stable to leave Flash and then headed to the main house. I didn't call them to tell them I was coming but I knew they wouldn't have a problem with that. I felt different today. I felt even more confident about my future and the decisions I'd have to make soon. That morning talk with Jackson made me feel like I needed to think more about myself.
I saw Blake in the distance working with the cows. He looked focused on his work and I couldn't help but laugh when I reached his side. He always said he wouldn't work with cows when his dad pass the ranch to him.
He looked at me puzzled at who was laughing at him. It was early morning and maybe he wasn't in a good mood.He looked at me and then smiled. A heart killer smile. I took a moment to breathe him in. His ruffled morning hair and the bags under his eyes made him look tired but sexy. His ocean green eyes showed how relieved he felt to see me back home. He smirked without saying a word as he stared back at me. He looked into my eyes and I felt like butter melting on a heated pavement in summer. He remembered his promise and I felt good when he pulled me into a hug. It felt like home.
“I'm glad you're back, Liv" he said looking down burning his eyes with mine.
“ Me too. I have to go back in a few days but I'm glad to be back too" I said pulling away from the hug.
“We need to talk" he said with his beautiful eyes full of concern.
“ I know we do but maybe later?” I looked at him as I sucked on my bottom lip silently asking him to understand.
“It's fine but you need to promise me we will" he said poking at my nose. I nodded with a smile.
“ Where is Miranda? I want to talk to the two of you" I told him with a short smile. His eyes looked at me with sadness and it scared every part of my body.
“Is she okay? What happened?” I asked freaked out almost turning around to run towards the house. Blake gently grabbed my wrist to stop me from going insane.
“She is doing ok. She has started to feel worse and the pain sometimes is unbearable. She still tries to enjoy life and live as happy as she can" he explained in his hoarse voice.
“ Can we go see her?” I asked. My voice shook a bit and I couldn't hide it that I was scared.
Blake called one of his workers to stay with the cows and then lead the way towards the house.
