Jungkook looked up at his mother confused.

"It's been very hard, blocking what you told me about Taehyung from your father. It's actually very exhausting because I have never hidden anything from your father before. But, I think its time I tell you about our family's dark past".

"Mom...you're not making any sense". Jungkook manage to say.

"Ever since, you've told me about Taehyung's white wolf form, I already knew this was going to be so much more complicated for you. But I also knew, that it was meant to be, for the both of you that is. You see.....Taehyung isn't just a white wolf, which you know are rare to begin with because that clan no longer exist. But what you don't know is that Taehyung's purple eyes means that he came from the head family of that clan. Only they carry the purple eyes in their gene. And you and Taehyung have met before, when you were only pups". She smiles at jungkook with tears in her eyes.

"What?....but I don't remember....how can I not remember?"

"Well, for one thing, Taehyung was only 2 at the time and you were just a new born, but nonetheless you both were already very fond of each other. I remember when his parents would bring him over and how attentive he was with you even though he was just a toddler himself. He was a gentle boy, and every chance he got he just wanted to be near you. And you were terrible as a baby. No one could hold you except for me, not even your father. You'd throw a fit, which was ridiculous but whenever Tae was near you, you were calm. Always smiling, and he'd sleep next to you; we would always find you both cuddled up tightly next to each other. -

We always thought it was very odd, considering you were only a new born, but it was as if you knew. You sensed when he came over, and the times when he was there and not allowed to see you because of your feeding time, you'd refuse your bottle until he was right next to you." She paused to let Jungkook soak this information in.

"why....why didn't you tell me this sooner? Why did you hide about Taehyung from dad?"

This was when more tears started to stream down his mother's face, who he never seen cry a day in his life.

"You see, to the public, The White Wolf, and the Black Wolf clans were rivals when it comes to political issues regarding our wolf kind. But in actually, Taehyung's father was your father's best friend. They were like brothers, in fact, your father was closer to that man than his own brother. They may face opposing views when it comes to deciding what worked best for our people, but they respected each other and cared very deeply.

At the time, there was a big debate about letting smaller clans join the political discussions. Tae's father was always fighting for the under dog, he wanted each and every wolf, no matter the clan, or rank to have a say in more things, and not be judged and rule over by the bigger clans. He actually wanted to destroy the system that was in place that gave us bigger clans the power to dictate what the other clansmen can or can not do, such as trade or territory control. He thinks that each clan should be able to have their own set of networking system and laws rather than follow that of ones made by bigger clans.

You see not all bigger clans does things by the book, or even play fair. Some takes bribery and neglect the ones that have nothing to offer. During that time, a lot of small clans were dying out and Tae's father thought that things needed to change before we lose more people"

"Your father, didn't completely oppose to the idea because he knew change was needed, he knew that a lot of the elders were stuck in there old ways, and it was effecting us a lot. At first it was a lot of different breeds of wolves dying out. Then soul mates were also becoming a rare phenomenon. What ever we were or weren't doing was affecting our kind. But your father also knows that there needed to be a set government or else the peace would never last among different clans. It was the reason why our ancestors created unification in the first place, and only having the big clans in charge.

Your uncle at the time was furious at your father for not fully rejecting Taehyung's father ideals. He said that your father was going soft because his friendship. So, your uncle did a very very terrible thing. And this is where a lot of pain and shame comes in. This is what I wanted to protect your father from. You see, your uncle took matters into his own hand, and gathered a few good following. They went into the White wolves territory at night, killing most of the guards, then poisoned their water supply with concentrated wolves' bane. That night after they made sure every member of that clan was weak enough....they.....they massacred everyone, burning homes to the ground.

Taehyung's parents called us that night; they were already poisoned and knew that they couldn't hide forever. They asked us for help, and we raced over with as much people as we could gather last minuet. It was a blood bath Kookie.....they didn't even spare the kids. When we got to Taehyung's house we went straight to their hidden bunker, which your father knew because they use to play underneath there as kids. We found Taehyung's parents already dead by the poison, and Tae was nowhere to be found. So we assumed the worst.

We didn't find out it was your uncle who'd done the terrible deed until we got home and he confessed, but he did it without any guilt. He proudly proclaimed that he should be head of the clan for what he did that night. Saying that nobody would dare to change the ruling clans now.

On top of that, the Black wolves will now have majority vote. Your father felt sick. He knew his brother had crossed a line. And by law needed to be punished. He wanted to do it himself, because that's how much he loved Taehyung's father. But still, your uncle was blood. So your father defanged him, stripped him of all claims to our clans, and ceremonially unlinked him from our bloodline. He then told your uncle to leave and never come back. That letting him live at all is the only mercy your father could give as an older brother.

The incident really affected your father. The reason why I didn't want him to know about Taehyung just yet, because he would only blame himself more for not going to look for the boy. I know your father would have wanted to raise him as his own. But also, I didn't know if Taehyung knew about his past, and if he did.....i don't know if he'd be ok with our family once he knows the truth. Because not only did we take everything away from him, your father's biggest shame was covering it up.

He didn't want to of course, but the elders were afraid what might happen if the truth got out. The White Wolves would have been a martyr, giving the smaller clans a reason to revolt. So for the sake of 'peace' they rather people live in fear of rumors. And it worked, people were so afraid that if something like that, could happen to a ruling clan just by speaking out, then it could happen to anyone. So people stayed quiet, choosing not to tell their own kids of what happened that day.

For a while, our family was under suspicion of being the cause, and they had no idea how right they were."

When Jungkook's mother finished her story, Jungkook became speechless.

" where......where is the hope in all this mother? Our family is the reason why Taehyung grew up alone. The reason why he grew up in terrible circumstances, and I'm the reason he almost died....."

"What your uncle, your father, the clan, or even I did or didn't do does not define you. The hope I'm trying to tell you is that from the very start, you both were already drawn to each other. When Taehyung went missing, you didn't sleep for days. You wouldn't take your bottle. I thought it was maybe you were just sick. But it got bad, and we were so worried. It wasn't until we found an old teddybear that Taehyung left at our house and gave it to you that you'd finally calm down".

"You...you mean Yeontan? The teddy bear that still sits in my room?"

"Yes sweetie. I think, when you do speak to Taehyung, you need to lay everything on the table. How you feel, what I just told you. You need to let him hear your truth, all of it through your link. That way he can understand it all fully. You two are soul mates for a reason. I think although things don't seem so good right now, it won't stay that way. If he is the same boy I remembered so enamored with you as a baby......I know, he'll love you enough to forgive you".

"Love is a strong word mother....its only been...."

"Soul mates are souls that were split at birth, two halves of a whole. You already loved each other before you even knew each other. Trust in that, sweetie. Do not doubt that feeling anymore. " She cuffed his face in her hands and kissed her son on his forehead.
