If You Only Knew

Chapter 7

Kiko's POV

I didn't mean to look like a creep, but I couldn't help but stare at Devon as she was slipping out of her clothes into her bikini. 

God, her body was perfect and she didn't even have to try.

I watched as she applied sunscreen to her beautiful morena skin. I appreciated her beauty. It was so different to all the other girls I'm surrounded by. She was boyish and dorky, yet had an air of confidence about her that I really admired. I knew that I would never meet a girl like her again in my life. She was a snowflake. One of a kind. 

"Dude, baka matuna yan si Devon so tingin mo ha," Elmo whispered in my ear, breaking me from my thoughts.

I turned to him and Donny smirking at me. "Guys leave me alone," I whined halfheartedly. Even though I hated to admit it, I liked their teasing. It reinforced to me that my feelings for her were real. 

"Next time kasi bro, don't make it so obvious nah you're checking her out," laughed Donny. 

"Whatever," I said as I brought him into a headlock. All of sudden we began wrestling on the sandy ground. Elmo decided to join by jumping on top of both of us and suffocated us both. Before Donny and I could call mercy, Janella and Kisses ran up to us.

"Guys, sino yung guy talking to ate Devon?" asked Kisses as she pointed over to where Devon and this mystery guy, that seems somewhat familiar, were standing. 

Both Donny and Elmo shook their heads, signalling they didn't know who he was either. 

"Parang nag aaway sila," stated Janella.

Sure enough, it appeared as though the guy and Devon were in a heated argument with one another. It was clear that they had a history; albeit, not a very good one. I couldn't help the heat of jealous that ran through my body thinking about Devon being with another guy. I mean she's never mentioned another guy before, or any guy for that matter. So whoever he was, made me extremely curious. 

I swear if he ever hurt Devon, I'm going to hurt him.

"Guys, let's go check it out. I have a bad feeling about this." Everyone nodded in agreement. 

When we finally arrived I noticed that Devon had tears streaming down her face and I felt a surge of anger envelope me. Thankfully, I was able to keep my cool. I didn't want to make the situation worse than it already was. 

"Devs, are you okay?" asked Donny. He turned to the mystery man, "Sino ka ba? Anong ginawa mo sa kaaibigan namin?" Both him and Elmo tried to maintain serious faces to intimidate him. When it came to their friends, they always protected them. 

Janella and Kisses did what girls do best, they both hugged Devon. Shielding her from the asshole that made her cry. 

The guy didn't answer Donny's question, and for some reason that made me even angrier. 

"My friend asked you a question. Sino ka ba?" I questioned him, my voice conveying how mad I was. 

He stared me down, his eyes forming into slits. His attempt at intimidation didn't phase me and I think he realized it after a few more seconds that he didn't scare me and he finally replied.

"Ethan, my name is Ethan."

Ethan? I don't ever recall an Ethan. Wait...

Suddenly, I remembered who Ethan was. I'd never met him in person but I did used to see his comments on Devon's pictures and the tweets he would send her. I'm assuming that he used to be someone special to her. In a romantic way that is.

I don't know why, but it hurt my heart to think that Devon did have a special guy in her life and that it wasn't me.

If you were mine, I'd make it my mission to never hurt you and to always make you happy.

"Okay, Ethan... why did you make Devon cry. I swear to God if you hurt he-." 

Before I could finish my threat Devon interrupted me. "Kiko, tama na. Okay lang ako."

"Pero-"

She cut me off again. "Sabi ko tama na!"

Seeing the hurt in her eyes made me shut my mouth. Whatever this douche did to her must've been really bad if it got her acting like this. I swear, if she wasn't there to watch I probably would've hit him already.

You do stupid things when you're in love.

Ethan decided it was time for him to bow out. "Look, I didn't mean any harm okay. I didn't even know Devs, I mean Devon, was going to be here. But when I saw her, I just really wanted to talk to her. I wanted to explain things, but it got out of hand," he rambled. "Devon I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to make you cry and I didn't mean to hurt you.  I know I don't deserve it, but when you're ready to have a civil conversation with me call me. My number hasn't changed." And with that, he walked off, dragging his feet through the sand. 

"Ate Devon okay ka lang," Kisses asked, as she hug Devon tightly. 

Devon turned to smile at her. "Yeah, okay lang ako. Promise."

"So sino ba siya talaga sayo Devon?" asked Elmo.

"Sabihin na lang natin na he was an old friend," Devon answered. "Anyway guys, enough drama na yan! Mag swimming na tayo. Kaya tayo nag punta dito diba?" She wiped away the tears from her eyes and grabbed the hands of Janella and Kisses and dragged them towards the water laughing. Donny and Elmo shrugged their shoulders and ran off after them. 

I just watched from a distance as Devon began splashing water at her friends, laughing as though she didn't have a care in the world. It was classic Devon. Even when she was upset, she still pretended she was okay. All of her pent of sadness and anger was definitely not good for her. I was determined to figure out what happened and why that tool had the audacity to make her cry.

It's okay Devs, I'll be your shoulder to cry on.

Hello everyone!!! I guess you guys weren't expecting Ethan were you? I read all your comments regarding who you wished and thought it would be and wondered what your reaction would be to finding out it was Ethan. Do you guys even remember him (haha)? I thought they were cute together and then all of a sudden he just disappeared so I thought it would be interesting to re-imagine what happened to their friendship. But it's also important to remember that this story is just fiction (even though I really hope Devki will become non-fiction if you know what I mean ;) ), so yeah the whole Ethan and Devon situation isn't really. Just in case you get mad at him or something.

Also, I have big plans for this story so for those of you who will follow their journey to the end, you may see some favourite faces (*cough cough* Sam, James, Enrique and Jon Lucas *cough cough*) in the near future so stay tuned for that.
