If You Only Knew

Chapter 14

Sam's POV

"Sam, you can't be late for this meeting okay? It's extremely important. I think this movie will be really good for your career," my manager, Tito Alex says over the phone.

"Yes Tito, I'm already on my way. Siguro mga 5 minutes pa, traffic kasi eh," I replied.

After talking for a few more minutes I finally hung up and began scrolling through Instagram. A picture of my ex-girlfriend Kia was the first photo to pop up on my feed. When I saw her face, I felt my heart retreat further back into my chest. I hated the way things ended between us, but she didn't love me anymore and it wasn't like I could force her.

On the bright side, I have a potential new movie coming up which I was extremely grateful for. Now that I'm single, I can solely focus on my career.

For now at least, no more distractions from girls. My career comes first.

I looked down at my watch and panicked as the face changed to 4pm, which meant I was already late for the meeting. I asked my driver if he could go any quicker; I'd hate to make a terrible first impression, especially when they asked me to be in the role. Finally, after what felt like forever, we arrived in front of the Regal building and I exited out of the car. I immediately sought out where the meeting was taking place.

A kind employee pointed me in the right direction of the meeting room. Before I made my entrance I took a deep breath in, preparing myself for what their reaction would be to me being late.

I slowly opened the door, expecting to be met with looks of disappointment, but instead, I was greeted with a huge smile from the person I least expected.

Devon.

I haven't seen or talked to her in over two years. She looked different. More matured. Her chubby cheeks and baby face were replaced with high cheekbones and a slightly more defined jawline. But what hadn't changed was her breathtaking smile and her kind eyes.

She's still as beautiful as ever.

"Sam," she whispered.

"Hey Jejevon!" I replied, using the nickname I gave her back in the day.

She hugged me and I would be lying if I said I didn't feel at peace. It's been over two years but this girl still has the power to make it feel like no time has passed between us.

When she released me from her embrace I felt a pang of disappointment within me, but then I realised that Kiko was standing right next to her. I greeted him too and we continued with the meeting.

After discussing the generic details of the movie I suggested that we all go to a nearby cafe to have dinner. When Devon said yes, a part of me tingled with happiness and when Kiko said that he'd meet us there, I became even more excited. It would give me a chance to just be with Devon for a little while... to catch up of course. I really missed our friendship and now that she's in my life again I realised just how stupid it was for leaving it.

I'm going to take this as a sign from the universe to not be an idiot once again and be her friend again.

Before we even got a chance to sit down to order, a group of young girls ran up to Devon and I asking for a picture. They told us how they used to be big fans of SamVon. The Bubbles were always one of my biggest supporters and I will always be grateful to them.

After 10 more minutes passed they finally left us alone.

"What do you want to eat Devs?" I asked her.

"Ano ba ang masarap?"

"My favourite is the spaghetti and garlic bread. That's what I usually order when I'm here."

"Ah sige, yan nalang din i-order ko!"

I beckoned the waiter over and told them our order. Once he left to return back to the kitchen, I noticed Devon put her phone away.

"Sino ka-text mo?" I joked.

"Ah si Kiko lang. He said he can't make it kase something came up so tayo lang muna."

I silently thanked Kiko in my mind. It meant that Devon and I would have time to ourselves.

"Well I guess now is as good as ever to catch up. So tell me what's been happening with you for the past 2 years Jejevon?"

And with that we spent over 2 and half hours running through the story of our lives.

Hellloooooo sorry for the delay (like really long delay) uni is hectic, especially doing a double degree. But we're getting there! Anyway here's Sam's POV. I'm sorry ok but SamVon will always have a place in my heart but this still will mostly be a DevKi fanfic but I needed some tension sooooo that's where Sam comes in.
