If You Only Knew

Chapter 15

Devon's POV
After dinner, like the gentleman he's always been, Sam offers to drive me home. Being in the car with him again, feels just like old times.

"So, how amazing is it to see each other after all this time, no?" Sam says, turning to smile at me from the driver's seat.

I shyly grinned in response. "Oo nga. Pero I feel weird too kasi hindi ko talaga ine-expect nah ikaw ang ka-partner ko."

"Apparently, the director was a big SamVon fan back in the day and requested that both of us star in his movie!"

"Talaga?" I ask with excitement.

"Yeah, I overheard him talking to one of his producers on my way to the CR."

"Well, masaya ako nah we're working together again. I miss working with you," I say softly.

"I missed working with you too, Jejevon," he replies with a wide smile.

Finally, we arrive in front of my house. Sam and I exchange our new numbers before saying goodbye. I lean in to give him a quick hug to say thanks and I make my way inside my house. 

As I walk up the driveway, I quickly glance at my watch. The hands on the face said it was already 11:30pm. This means my parents are most likely already sleeping. However, before I had the chance to unlock the door, it was yanked open.

I am met with the face of my ever so tsismosang mother who had a curious gleam in her eye. 

"Anak, sino nag hatid sayo?" she asked, as I slip through the cracks of the door. 

"Ah... si Sam po..." I trail off sheepishly. 

"Huh? Sinong Sam? Lalake? Kilala ko?" She fired question after question. 

"Si Sam Concepcion po."

To say my mother was both confused and shocked would be an understatement.

"Bakit kayo magkasama ni Sam Concepcion? Akala ko hindi na kayo close? At paano naman si Kiko?" 

"Um, si Sam po aye magiging isang love interest ko sa bagong film ko. Actually, kasama din si Kiko doon. Parang love triangle po Ma," I try to explain to her. 

"Anak, may bagong movie ka? At bida ka pa? Dyios ko, salamat po! Ito na yata ang big break mo hija!" my mom exclaims, enveloping me in a hug. 

My mother is not that type to contain her excitement, especially when it comes to my career. Whatever role I get, whether big or small, she's always happy for me. And although I've always been thankful for the different characters I get to play, this'll be one of the first times I'm going to be the star. 

Honestly, it hasn't really sunk in yet, considering I literally just found out 12 hours ago. But I know I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure that it doesn't turn out like last time. This is going to be my year, I can feel it. So from now on, no more distractions. I'm going to focus on me.

The next morning, my manager called me to set up another meeting with the director and producers of my new movie. She said they wanted me to do a screen test with both Kiko and Sam. She said it was simply a formality considering the director had already seen me in projects with both of them, they just wanted to make it 100% sure. 

I quickly got ready so that I could beat the Manila traffic. Once I finally arrived at the Regal building, I made my way to room that they had set up for the screen test. As I entered, I noticed that I was the first one there from the trio. 

"Oh, Devon nandito ka na," said the casting director Mr Gonzaga. "I want you to meet Mr de la Roca, he's our director!"

"Nice to meet you po, sir. Thank you for the opportunity," I said as I shook his hand. 

"So, actually Devon, I'm glad that you arrived first because there are a few things we needed to discuss with you." 

I nod in reply.

"The reason we're having this test screening is simply because we want to know who you should end up with in the film."

"Po?"

"Well you see, hindi pa namin na-decide kung sino ang matutuluyan mo. We tried to base it on your past works with the two guys. Pero your chemistry with both of them was as equally as amazing that we couldn't choose. So that's why nandito tayo ngayon, para alamin natin kung sino ang lalake dapat matuluyan mo sa film. Okay lang ba yan sayo?"

"Of course sir!"

"I just ask hija nah you don't say anything to the two guys, we just want you to be as organic with both of them ok?"

"Sige po, direk. I promise I'm going to try hardest."

And with that, both Sam and Kiko walk through the door the exact same time. 

Let's get ready to rumble.

Hello! I promise I'm still alive! I wanted to update this story because I don't have an excuse not to because of isolation.
