If You Only Knew

Chapter 11

Kiko' POV

I woke up the next day with a big smile on my face. Talking to Devon all night on the phone was better than all the conversations I've had with my past girlfriends. That is, until I remembered the reason I had to talk to her in the first place.

Jason Joseph Francis Carlos Diaz Estrada, you are the biggest idiot in the entire world. 

I was still extremely pissed at myself for almost kissing her. I mean don't get me wrong, I wanted to kiss her. I really, really wanted to kiss her. If our friends didn't show up then I probably would have and heaven knows what I would do if that had happened. 

I tried to shake the memory of the almost-kiss from my mind and focus on the new day. I checked my phone and around thirty messages were on my home screen, all of them from my manager. The latest message from her caught my attention.

From: Ms M

Kiks, wake up! And once you do please call me as soon as you can. I have a possible project for you. 

After reading her text, I rung my manager straight away. It only took one ring for her to pick up.

"Kiks, buti na lang at nagising ka din. Almost lunch na, hindi ka pa gumagalaw diyan."

I chuckled lowly. "Sorry tita, pagod lang kasi ako. I needed to sleep in."

"Oh siya, bahala na yan. What I really wanted to discuss with you is a possible movie project by Regal. Actually it's a project for both you and Devon."

Just the mention of Devon's name makes my heart skip a beat. I didn't even need to think about what my response would be. 

"Yes. If Devon's in then I'm in," I say without hesitation. 

My manager burst into laughter. "Oh hijo, you're too predictable," she managed to get out in between her giggles, "I knew you would be interested so I already booked a meeting for you and Devon later today at around 4pm. You better be there on time or I'll kill you."

I rolled my eyes. "Yes tita, I'll make sure that I'm there on time okay?"

We talked on the phone for a few more minutes about my other upcoming projects and my schedule. When we hung up, a huge smile seemed to have crept up on my face and stayed there for the whole day.

I went downstairs to grab some breakfast... I mean lunch, and made my way down to the kitchen. I was met by my beautiful mother. As she saw me descending the staircase, she raised her eyebrows at me. 

"Oh, Kiko, what are you so happy about?"

I feigned a look of confusion. "What do you mean Ma?"

"What I mean is, your literally skipping down the stairs. You never skip, like ever," my mother laughed. 

I gave her a sheepish smile. "I just got some good news, that's all."

"Oh, siya! What is is son?"

"I have a possible movie project... and with Devon..."

My mom gave me a knowing look. "With Devon huh? You two have been getting closer, I've noticed."

"Yeah we are. She's good company. And different from everyone else."

"Well if she makes you happy, then I say go for it!" My mom exclaimed. 

As she said this, I nearly choked on my water. "What do you mean, 'go for it'? We're just friends Ma," I chuckled nervously.
