chapter 2

Leappaw followed after his mentor, Deathcloud. The clans finally decided to leave the forest, and find their new territory.
The leaders had insisted on trying to see if there was territory enough to live in the mountain.

Leappaw stumbled after Deathcloud. Deathcloud hadnt been acting unussual. Compared to Bluemoon. He kept silence. Meanwhile Deathcloud carried on. Leappaw thought about asking him why he wasnt sad or worried for his own kit. But the broad shoulders always scared Leappaw.

The clans had walked for a quarter moon, and have now reached a reed moor. The leaders and the deputies walked up front. The queens and elders walked in the middle, with the warriors shielding them from all sides.

Leappaw and Melodypaw were in the back with their mentors. Leappaw wanted to see Tigertail but she was a fox lenghts away.

"Leappaw!" Deathcloud's sharp mew woke Leappaw's from his thoughts. Leappaw fixed his gaze on Deathcloud and raised his ears.
"S-sorry!" Leappaw apolagized. Leappaw stretched his legs and stood straight. I miss Shadowclaw. Deathcloud doesnt know anything about training an Apprentice. Leappaw thought.

"The leaders decided we should rest here tonight" Deathcloud informed. Leappaw had slept with all the other Apprentices since they left. Hazelpaw, Badgerpaw, Snowpaw, Oakpaw, Gorepaw, Leafpaw, Deerpaw, Melodypaw, Featherpaw, Dovepaw, Heatherpaw and Brackenpaw.

Gorepaw kept bragging about how he'll soon have his warrior name. Leadpaw just gazed at him without talking.
Deathcloud gazed at Leappaw.
"Let me guess. You dont like sharing a den with this many cats?" Deathcloud guessed. Leappaw looled down at his paws and nodded.

"They just brag how their clan is the best, and how ours suck" Leappaw muttered. Deathcloud lifted his ears.
"Do you think you clan suck?" Deathcloud asked. Leappaw hated when Deathcloud asked these kind of questions. But he shook his head.
"Then it doesnt" Deathcloud insisted.
Leappaw sighed.

"Anyway. You'd better find the other apprentices" Deathcloud mewed and turned and padded away. Another unforgetable night. Leappaw clawed the ground. A sudden weight leaped onto Leappaw's back and pressed him to the ground. Pushing all air out off him.

Leappaw turned his head. To his surprise he saw a white paw and cream brown fur.
"Melodypaw! Get off me!" Leappaw hissed. Melodypaw gave a mrrow of amusement. Melodypaw removed her white paw and got off Leappaw.

"Who put thorns in your nest?" Melodypaw joked. Leappaw went along his sisters jokes.
"It was probaly Gorepaw" Leappaw mewed. Melodypaw started laughing.
"He's such a bad tempered apprentice. Thank Starclan he's in Moonclan" Melodypaw confessed. Melodypaw didnt like the white Apprentice either.

"Lets get to the den. Gorepaw, Badgerpaw, Hazelpaw and Leafpaw are working on it" Melodypaw informed.
"Why was Gorepaw sat on that duty?" Leappaw asked. Melodypaw smirked.
"He tried to go upfront with the leaders. This is his punisment" Melodypaw let out a snort.
"Leafpaw is such in love with him she suggested helping" Leappaw started laughing. It was only Melodypaw who could help him through with the Apprentices.

Melodypaw and Leappaw found the tempoarly apprentice den. A reed had flashed into Leappaw's eye and Melodypaw had stepped on a sharp stone.
"I hope he pluck the thorns out this time" Leappaw muttered.
"I think i still have one in my tail" Meldoypaw muttered and looked at her big fluffy brown tail.
"It would be impossible to get it out" Leappaw joked. Melodypaw looked back at Leappaw. She flung herself up top on Leappaw and gently bit his ear tip.
"Get off me Melodypaw" Leappaw begged and used his front paws to push her off.

Leappaw heard pawsteps nearing them.
"If you two are done acting like kits, we've finished your thorn dens" A white ragged tom with amber eyes hissed. Leappaw looked up, still laying on the ground with his paws in the air. Melodypaw growled.
"Guess his littermates didnt like playing with him?" Melodypaw whispered into Leappaw's ear.
"I dont have littermates!" Gorepaw hissed. Clawing the ground. Leappaw rolled on the other side and looked up at Gorepaw.

"In a heartbeat" Leappaw answered. Gorepaw narrowed his eyes but turned around and padded away. Leappaw looked up at Melodypaw and started laughing.
"Thats one way to scare him off" Melodypaw mewed and nudged Leappaw to get up. Leappaw got up on his paws.
"Another horrible night" Melodypaw sighed.

Leappaw followed Melodypaw to the den and found Heatherpaw talking to Brackenpaw.
"Where were you guys?" Brackenpaw asked and ran up to Leappaw and Melodypaw. Leappaw glanced at Melodypaw.
"We were in the back" she explained.
Brackenpaw nodded as she understood. Then the dark brown tabby walked away. Leappaw glanced around. The queens nest were in the middle, surounded by warriors. A tail ran over Leappaw's shoulder. Leappaw turned to see Furyfang padding away.

The white she-cat took heavy breathings. Melodypaw turned her head to her mentor.
"Why is she so exchousted?" Melodypaw muttered. Leappaw twitched his ear but his gaze was still locked on the warrior.
Furyfang was padding towards the leaders. Still catching her breath.

Before the leaders could ask, Clawfoot had stormed over to the exchousted warrior.
"Furyfang? Whats wrong? Where's the rest of the patrol?" Clawfoot asked concerned. Furyfang looked up at the silver tabby.
"They... we got attacked..." Furyfang managed to breath. Soon more cats crawled towards them.
"The patrol told me to run, so i did" Furyfang explained. Furyfang was about to fall but Larkpelt of Sunclan hurried over to Furyfang's shoulder and held her up.

"You did good. Lets get you to rest" Larkpelt mewed and padded away with Furyfang hanging up at her.
"Furyfang!" Energystar mewed. Furyfang looked up.
"What attacked you?" Energystar asked. Furyfang's legs started shaking.
"Dogs... to many to count. So hungry for blood..." Furyfang explained. Energystar nodded. Larkpelt lead Furyfang to a nest.

"I knew coming here was a mistake!" A cat shouted. All cats turned their heads. To Leappaw's surprise, it was Jayfur of Leafclan who spoke.
Coming here wasnt a mistake! Leappaw thought and clawed the ground.

"Leappaw!" Energystar shouted a few fox lenghts away. Leappaw rushed over to Energystar and looked up.
"Yes?" Leappaw sat down.
"The other leaders and i have decided we will send a patrol to lure the dogs away-" Energystar got caught off by Leappaw.
"You will send cats right to their death!?" He shouted confused. Energystar closed her eyes in shame.
"And i am not proud. I never said it was a great decision" Energystar explained. Leappaw's body was frozen with horror. Her own clanmates?! How could she?!

"Wait, why would you tell me this?" Leappaw asked and narrowed his eyes. Energystar sighed.
"You were the closes Dawnclan cat i could see" Leappaw tilted his head.
"Can you go announce this dicision to the other Dawnclan members?" Energystar asked. Leappaw looked down at his paws in shame.
"Yes Energystar" he mewed shamefully and dragged himself away. With him dragging his tail on the ground.
