chapter 8

Leappaw together with Skyfoot was shaking their legs. The black she-cat had Sootheart pinned to the ground.
"We thought that it would be a great place for us" Sootheart explined.
"But we were wrong. We didnt know any cat lived here" the black she-cat still had him pinned to the ground, and her lips drawn back in a fierce snarl.

Leappaw attention got on the pale grey she-cat. The she-cat eyed Leappaw back with a small smile. She seems friendly.
"Midnight, just let them go" the pale grey she-cat mewed calmy. Leappaw noticed the sweet and calm voice.
"Why should i Breeze?" Midnight dared. A dark grey tom stepped in.
"Enough! Midnight, get off him" the tom hissed. Midnight glanced at the tom before leaping off Sootheart. Sootheart sprung to his paws and glanced at the cats.

"My name is Storm that strikes fear. That was Midnight with shining stars" the dark grey tom intruduced. Midnight growled.
"I dont think we should give them our names Storm" Midnight sneered. Storm narrowed his eyes calmy at the black she-cat.
"The mottled brown she-cat over there, is Silent owl beside warm rocks, also known as Owl" Storm intruduced at pointed his tail at the mottled brown she-cat. The she-cat dipped her head in gretting.

"That other yom is Dappled hawk that crashes against stones, also known as Hawk" Storm mewed. Hawk raised his head and nodded. Storm glanced back at Breeze. The she-cat lightened up and padded over to Leappaw.

"Im Floating breeze in midnight sky. But just call me Breeze" Breeze mewed gazing into Leappaw's eyes.
Sootheart stepped in beside Leappaw.
"Im Sootheart, that dusty brown tom is Skyfoot, and this is Leappaw" Sootheart introduced. Skyfoot dipped his head, and Leappaw smiled at the cats. Breeze leaned in infront of Leappaw. Leappaw took a pace back.

"Oh sorry, I've just never seen a cat with two eye colors" Breeze mewed admired. Leappaw felt his fur growing hot.
"My mom told me i was the first in the whole forest to have two eye colors" Leappaw mewed, thinking of Tigertail.
"You are?" Breeze asked. Leappaw shool his head.
"I wouldnt think so" Leappaw afmitted and gazed into Breeze's blue eyes.

"Okay, thats enough" Midnight mewed and got in between Breeze and Leappaw.
"Hey!" Breeze hissed. Leappaw glared at the black she-cat. Midnight suddenly turned her gaze to leappaw.
"Are you some sort of a to-be?" Midnight asked. Leappaw tilted his head.
"Whats a to-be?" Leappaw asked. He heard Breeze grin. Skyfoot padded over to Leappaw with Owl beside him.

"I think they assume you are an Apprentice" Skyfoot mewed. So they call apprentices to-bes? Leappaw thought how stupid it sounded.
"Do you live in a clan?" Leappaw asked. Midnight shook her head.
"We live in a tribe. The tribe of blazing fire" she mewed. Leappaw twitched his ear in confusion.

"I live in a clan. Dawnclan" Leappaw tried to sound confident but he heard Breeze giggle. Leappaw glanced at Storm and Sootheart.
"You said you were searching for a new home?" Storm asked. Sootheart turned his gaze and nodded.
"Oh not us three. Five clans" Sootheart explained. Hawk padded in between them.
"How many cats are in a clan?" He asked. Leappaw and the others oadded over to Sootheart, Hawk and Storm. Breeze padded up next to him.

"About that question. I am a sort of to-be. We're called Apprentices" Leappaw informed. Breeze nodded her head.
"Are you training to be a cave-guard or prey-hunter?" Breeze asked. Leappaw froze.
"Errr... both. We call them warriors. They both hunt and fight" Leappaw mewed. Breeze's eyes lightened up.

"I wish i could do that. I wanted to be a cave-guard but i was chosen to be a prey-hunter" Breeze finished with a grunt. Leappaw thought back at Seasonleaf. Her being forced to become a medicine cat.
"I have a friend that followed those paw prints" Leappaw mewed and moved his gaze to Sootheart and Storm.

"I think its best if you go get your other clans members. Im sure our Stoneteller will welcome you into the cave to rest" Storm mewed. Sootheart turned to Skyfoot, and then to Leappaw.
"Skyfoot, you'll come with me and get the others. Leappaw, go with the tribe cats" Sootheart ordered. Skyfoot and Leappaw nodded. Sootheart turned and padded away with Skyfoot behind him.

"Follow me" Breeze mewed and raced away. The snow swallowed Breeze's pale grey pelt. But Midnight and the others were easy to spot.

Leappaw had followed the tribe cats. Hawk and Owl had stais behind to talk to the clans. Leappaw padded beside Breeze, but with Midnight having her narrowed eyes at Leappaw. The four cats have reached the main mountain, and were now padding up the side to get to the water fall.

"How many clans are there?" Breeze asked. Leappaw sighed.
"Five" he mewed.
"What are their names?" Breeze asked widening her eyes.
"Dawnclan, Moonclan, Spiritclan, Sunclan and Leafclan" Leappaw mewed.
"Which one do you belong to?" Breeze couldnt shut her jaws. But Leappaw didnt mind. He liked hearing her sweet caring voice.

"Dawnclan" Leappaw mewed.
"What ranks are there in a clan?" Breeze asked again.
"There leaders, deputies, warriors Apprentices, queens, elders and medicine cats" Leappaw mewed.
"What do elders and medicine cats do?" Breeze asked.
"Breeze shut your jaws!" Midnight hissed at them. Breeze flinched and stopped talking. Shut your negative attitude!

"We're here" Owl informed and padded in under the water fall. With Midnight and Breeze behind her.
"Come on. Its not dangerous" Breeze mewed. Leappaw glanced at tje water fall.
"Okay" he mewed with fear prickling his voice. As he slowly placed his trembling paws on the cold stones he felt a bit of ice cold water on his fur.

Leappaw jumped in surprise. Eyeing Breeze who sat and laughed.
"Get in here you furball!" She teased and grabbed Leappaw by his tail and dragged him inside the cave. Leappaw gazed around the cave with big round eyes. The cats lived in stone caves. Soon more cats began padding over to Breeze and Leappaw. This will get interresting.
