chapter 21

As Minty moaned in pain in the hay, Savage and Shadowclaw bowed over her. Savage turned to Shadowclaw with worry. Minty's screech maked Shadowclaw and Savage's gaze flick back at her.
"Would you two stop talking and help!?" Minty complained. Clawing the hay. Savage's eyes were wide in press. At last she glanced at Shadowclaw. Urgh!!!!!!!
"Alright um..." Shadowclaw slowly bent down to Minty.
"Okay Minty. All you have to do is push" Shadowclaw instructed. Minty groaned louder.
"Minty!" Runner shouted from below the hay. Shadowclaw padded away from Savage and Minty. She looked down at Runner.
"She's... busy" Shadowclaw explained, trying to mew louder than Minty's moans. Runner gave a loud snarl. Suddenly Cliff bounded over to them.
"I heard the dogs! They must have gotten tired from running and biting" Cliff indformed. Runner flicked around to Cliff.
"How many dogs were there?!" He asked. Shadowclaw gave Minty a worried look. It ussually isnt this complicated back in the clans.

"Are the others here?" Shadowclaw asked to Cliff. The grey tom shook his head, and spoke.
"I havent seen them-"
"Yet" Cliff got caught off. Shadowclaw flicked her head to the entrence of the two-leg nest, seeing Blaze, Licht, Aslan, Copper, Pig and Wild. Most of them unharmed. Pig had a bite mark in his shoulder, and Blaze got a claw mark on his bottom chest.
Shadowclaw leaped down.
"Where are the dogs?" she demanded. Licht stepped forward.
"We tried to lure them away, but they gave up and ran back" he explained. A loud yowl from the hay ball made the cats turn their heads. Savage poked her head out from above.
"She's done... but we have a problem" Savage mewed. The cats looked confused at her.
"Minty have given birth to... nine kits" Savage ended. All cat's gazes were wide, but Runner's were the biggest.
"We've got to get them out!" Wild mewed. Copper nodded in agreement.
"Its to dangerous trying to fight the dogs away" he mewed. All cats nodded.
"But we cant just take them out. The dogs could be out there!" Aslan pointed out. Copper and Aslan had the heads close and intense.

"Enough! Shadowclaw will decide" Licht shouted. The rogue cats turned their gazes on Shadowclaw, waiting got orders. Okay um... we need to get them out, but maybe not seen. Shadowclaw turned to Savage.
"Is there... a secret passage in this, barn?" Shadowclaw asked. Savage thought for a heartbeat, then she straightened her ears and widened her eyes in happiness.
"There's a crack in the wall behind the hay" Savage mewed. Shadowclaw nodded. Okay good.
"You and Minty will get the kits out" Shadowclaw ordered. Minty raised her head.
"We cant possible carry all of them" Minty pointed out. Err right. Shadowclaw turned to the toms.
"Blaze and Pig, you're wounded so you'll help them" without the toms complaining, they nodded and hurried up to Savage and Minty. Shadowclaw turned to the rest.
"We'll lure the dogs up in that corner over there," Shadowclaw pointed her black fluffy tail at another hay ball, two fox lenghts high. The cats nodded.
"We'll also need a cat who can lure the dogs over to us-" Shadowclaw got interrupted by a bark. Three tall and muscular black and brown dogs pushed through the snow and entered the barn. Their black eyes gleaming with anger.

"I dont think We'll need that" Runner mewed. The front dog barked and Shadowclaw and the others spun arpumd and darted towards the hay ball. Shadowclaw got up first. Then Licht, Copper, Cliff and Aslan. Runner was last. He had trouble he digged his claws in the hay, but it was slowly starting to dissapear. Runner despartly tried to hang on, but then the dogs came and grabbed his tail. Not on my watch! Shadowclaw sprung down and landed on the dogs face. The dog let go of Runner's tail, and Runner climbed up. The dog barked and swung its head around. Shadowclaw dug her claws down in its head skin. Suddenly one of the other dogs came and grabbed Shadowclaw's tail and threw her away. She slidded over the floor, landing on all four. Slowly the three dogs neared her. All snarling. If i go down, you go down! Shadowclaw was about to leap up on the dog but a light ginger fur sprung infront of her. Licht? Licht glanced over his shoulder.
"I'll take care of these idiots" Licht promised. Shadowclaw got on her paws and was about to protest, but Licht bowed his head and darted into her. He pushed her into a small crack in the hay ball. Shadowclaw couldnt see much. It was all dark, except for a hole to Licht and the dogs. Barkings and screeched were heard. Shadowclaw peeked out and saw Licht hanging from a dog's jaws. His body uncaugius.

Shadowclaw unsheated her claws and were ready to jump. But a weird noice entered the barn. Shadowclaw turned her head and saw... a thing. It was blue and black and it could stand on two legs. A two-leg!? Shadowclaw froze in fear. I'll claw you to death if that is what it takes. Shadowclaw woved. The two-leg entered the barn and the dogs let go of Licht. The two-leg slowly padded away, all dogs following. Shadowclaw spun around and darted over to Licht's body. Te cats on the hay ball joined her. Runner poked Licht's flank with his paw.
"Im... sorry..." Licht spoke. Shadowclaw saw Blaze's face wide in surprise. Shadowclaw glanced down at Licht, her ears hanging shamefully.
"Dont... blame yourself" Licht mewed. He was dying but he had enough strenght to raise his paw and place it on top on Shadowclaw's.
"If I'll die, i died to save my kin. And for that i wish to do" Licht caughed, spiting blood out. Suddenly Shadowclaw noticed a neck wound. The wound was so deep you could see his bones.
"I must go... i cant wait to see... Rough and... Firefeather" and with these words said, Licht took the last breath and died.
