chapter 11

Blaze had helped Shadowclaw bury the clan cats. Shadowclaw and Blaze sat vigil for them.
"Starclan give them a warm nest and great hunting ground when they arrive" Shadowclaw muttered. Blaze lifted his head.
"Do you ussually say those things?" He asked. Shadowclaw narrowed her eyes and nodded. She felt her claws clawing the ground in anger, her teeth sharpening, her heart pounding and fur bristleling. But suddenly it all stopped. Blaze put his tail over Shadowclaw's shoulders and laid beside her.

"We should find a den. Or atleast make a nest" Blaze mewed and got up on his paws. Shadowclaw mewed but gave a glance on the dead clan cat's grave. Please lead us home. She begged. She turned and followed Blaze to a clearing where the snow just got over her paws. Blaze found some moss and started making a den.
"Err... Shadowclaw" Blaze mewed. Shadowclaw turned around.
"What is it?" She asked in a harsh tone.
Blaze nudged to moss.

"I only have enough moss to make one den" Blaze mewed.
"So, Whats the problem?" Shadowclaw asked, Blaze widened his eyes.
"In case you havent noticed we're two cats" Blaze mewed with a smile.
"Then We'll just have to share the nest" Shadowclaw mewed and turned. She felt Blaze's surprised gaze rest on her. Shadowclaw sighed.
"Finish the nest then i can take you out hunting" she mewed. Blaze lightened up and started working.

Shadowclaw padded away. She kept thinking what Leaf's words meant. He will be needed on the journey.
"What does that even mean? Yeah okay its simple and all, but it cant be that simple. How does she know all that stuff-"
"Missed my pressence that much you started talking to yourself?" Shadowclaw jumped. She got down in fighters crouch and sheated her claws. She sighed when she saw Blaze behind her.
"Mouse brain" Shadowclaw sneered. Blaze let out a mrrow of amusement.

"Sorry i couldnt help myself" Blaze apolagized. Shadowclaw rolled her green eyes.
"Lets start training" Shadowclaw mewed. Blaze widened his green eyes.
"Here? Now?" Blaze asked paniced. Shadowclaw got confused.
"Yes now! When else?!" Shadowclaw hissed. Blaze shrugged.
"I dont know, but isnt it a little too snowy right now?" Blaze asked. Shadowclaw narrowed her eyes.
"You will start training now!" Shadowclaw sneered. Blaze lowered is ears. Shadowclaw found herself releasing a smirk.
"Unless you want your name to be Blazepaw and learn everything again?" Shadowclaw asked teasinly. Blaze froze.

"Why are we standing around lile startled squirrels? Lets train" Blaze mewed and straightened his body. Shadowclaw laughed.
"This will be my pleasure" she mewed her eyes narrowed but still smirking. Shadowclaw twitched her ears and whiskers. She picked up a scent of a mouse. She signaled Blaze to get down and dont say anything. She got down in a crouch and crept forward. She pushed herself through the snow, until she found a little mouse. Digging in the ground for nuts. She stood completely still in the snow, and flexed her black claws. As she took a pace forward, the mouse froze. Fox dung! Shadowclaw jumped on the inocent mouse. The mouse almost escaped running under Shadowclaw's paws. It ran in the direction of Blaze. Catch it!

A yellow tabby foot jumped out and landed on the mouse. Blaze opened his jaws and bit fown in the mouse's brown fur.
"Not bad" Shadowclaw praised. Blaze lightened up.
"Really?" He asked lashing his tail in exitement. Shadowclaw nodded.
"For a first team-work catch" she mewed. Blaze looked down at the tasty mouse, his jaws running in water.
"You take it" Shadowclaw mewed. Blaze fixed his gaze on Shadowclaw.
"Really?" He asked. Shadowclaw nodded.
"For sure. It was your catch" she pointed out. Blaze glanced back at the mouse.
"Besides in the clan, queens and elders eat first. So enjoy it while you still can" Shadowclaw mewed. Blaze grabbed the mouse and carried it over and dropped it infront of Shadowclaw.

"I think we should share. We did it together right?" Blaze mewed. Shadowclaw widened his eyes and dipped her head in thanks. Why is Blaze being so nice? I almost killed him with my own claws. Shadowclaw thought but bent down and started eating the mouse with Blaze.

Shadowclaw woke up by Blaze's tail lashing over her muzzle. Shadowclaw pushed it away and looked around. Blaze crept up to Shadowclaw to get warm, cause' of his short fur. He slept besides Shadowclaw, but it wasnt like he had a choice. But Shadowclaw had looked where Blaze found the moss, and found out Blaze was lying. Then suddenly Leaf's words rang in her head. Kittypets are very eager to achieve what they want.

Shadowclaw got on her paws and stretched her body and yawned.
"I'd better catch something while He's asleep" she mewed and padded away.

Shadowclaw returned with two mice. It wasnt much but it was something. The mice yesterday didnt feed much. Shadowclaw returned to the nest where they slept. Only to find an empty nest. Where did Blaze go?! Did a fox get him?! No i cant smell any fox scent! What happened?! Shadowclaw dropped her prey and started heaving after air.
"Blaze if something bad happened to you. you will regret it" Shadowclaw promised. Suddenly Shadowclaw picked up a scent and gave a sigh.

Blaze stood infront on her with a rabbit between his jaws.
"Aw Shadowclaw. I didnt know you cared that much" Blaze mewed in a teasing tone, while the rabbit was in his jaws. Shadowclaw lowered her ears and growled.
"Mouse brain" she sneered. Blaze glanced at her prey.
"Looks like i got a better hunt" Blaze mewed proudly. Shadowclaw felt a growl rise in her throat.
"But i think im getting the hang of this hunting" Blaze mewed and dropped his prey. Shadowclaw smirked. Lets see how you do at fighting.

Before two heart beats. Shadowclaw lunged herself at top of Blaze and had his muzzle to the ground. Blaze froze, staring at Shadowclaw with disbelief in his eyes. Shadowclaw gave a mrrow of amusement.
"There more things than hunting" she reminded him and got off Blaze. Blaze sprung to his paws breathing heavily.
"Not funny" he mewed. It kinda was, Furball.
