chapter 23

Shadowclaw curled up in her hay nest. It wasnt as comfortable as moss, but it did just fine. Sunrises have passed since Licht and the dogs. As for Minty's nine kits, Runner was overwhelmed. She named them Snow, Ash, Floss, Kanaya, Merow, Gum, Stripes, Blossom and Cinder. It wouldnt take long before she stars learning their names.
Shadowclaw lashed her tail to reach her muzzle. The snow hadnt gotten worse, neither the weather or prey. Shadowclaw opened her eyes and found snow surounding her. Where's Blaze? Shadowclaw got up on her paws and looked around. They had slept in an abondoned barn where no monsters, two-legs or dogs were. But the roof was broken and snow fell down. Minty slept with her kittens two fox lenghts away from Shadowclaw with Wild and Savage. Cream, Milk and Sky had come when they heard about Licht's death and Minty's kittin.

Savage gave a wakening yawn and glanced around. She stopped when she spotted Shadowclaw.
"Morning. Where's Licht?" She asked once again. Shadowclaw sighed. What is wrong with her? Every time Savage had woken up, she had forgotten about Licht's death.
"He's dead Savage. Why cant you get that?" Shadowclaw mutteres. Savage's eyes were filled with sorrow.
"Because... because i liked him..." Savage confessed. Shadowclaw turned to Savage, her eyes narrowed.
"His loss of Rough was to much for him. I wanted to give him another happy life, another happy family but... that never happened" She mewed, covoring her face with her black paws. Every day, every time. Shadowclaw sighed.
"Do you know where Blaze went?" Shadowclaw asked. Savage looked up.
"Aslan and Copper went out to train him" Savage informed. Shadowclaw turned around and padded towards the exit of the barn. Milk and Sky pushed through the thick snow. They both were carrying prey in their jaws. Their pelts are white. Perfect for hunting in snow. Shadowclaw had thought.

"The prey is begining to hide at our hunting ground" Milk informed. Shadowclaw glanced away.
"Okay well... hunt another place and let the prey think you gave up" Shadowclaw ordered. Milk nodded and went inside with the prey. Sky stepped forward.
"I have some nuts Leaf wanted us to have incase of this" Sky informed.
"Only use it if you cant find prey else where" Shadowclaw mewed. Sky nodded and took her prey inside.Suddenly Shadowclaw felt a sudden urge to dig her claws deep into someones pelt, and bite down in their neck. Giving them a killing bite. In the past sunrises, Shadowclaw hadnt needed to use her sharp claws on any cat. But she longed after using them. I honestly wish someone came by and tried to start a fight. She hoped. The white she-cat sighed and turned around. Giving the barn cats a last glance before she turned away.

She lifted her paws and headed away from the barn. the ground underneath her paws were stiff and cold. like running on stones. there werent any trees she could run under, like there was in her clan. instead she was running on an opef fuild. with tall stiff brown grass, and show up to her over paws. Shadowclaw then broke into a run. Running through the grass with a little snow on them. she didnt bother. her pelt was thick enough for her not to feel the shivers that it would have brought.

"Shadowclaw" Shadowclaw stopped and pressed her paws in the stiff ground. Digging up some small peices of earth. she glanced around and saw Aslan pad infront of her, with a small mouse between his jaws. After him came Copper with his ginger tabby pelt full of snow. but with a small bunny in his jaws. after them came Blaze. stumbling on his front paws, something was between his jaws. An old crow was hanging from his jaws. Shadowclaw wanted to congratulate him of hs catch, but she hesitated.

"did he kill that?" she asked sternly. Blaze hadnt heard her. Copper nodded.

"after many tries" he added. Blaze certantly heard them, but decided to glance away. Aslan bent down and placed his mice infront of him. "what should we do with the prey we've caught?" he asked, something hiding in his question. "give it to Minty" Shadowclaw answered. she heard a growl rise in Aslan's throat. "it ALWAYS goes to Minty. Minty, Minty Minty! while she is well feed, we're starving!" Aslan questioned. Blaze glanced at the cats, almost losing his grib on his prey. "Are you questioning me?" Shadowclaw snarled. Aslan narrowed his eyes. His golden tabby pelt rising. "well someone has to before you kill us all by starvation" Aslan growled. Copper stepped in between them. Trying to break up their fight.

"Its hard enough for Minty to take care of so many kits-" Copper got interrupted by Aslan's tail. "but if WE die of starvation, then she'll die. so it'll be a waste" Aslan complained. "we dont have enough prey for every soft mouth" Aslan reminded. Giving Shadowclaw a daring glance. "i WILL eat this. without sharing with Minty" Aslan growled and took his mouth and darted away. "Aslan has always been questioning everything. even Leaf" Copper mewed. Shadowclaw didnt know if it was for her or Blaze. "well, he wasnt wrong" blaze muttered under his breath. Shadowclaw quickly narrowed her eyes and gave Blaze a cold glance. "what'd you say?" she asked. Blaze sighed and placed his bird down. 

"we ARE giving all our prey to Minty. While we see her eating peacefully, we're rolling on our backs. trying to contain our desprete hunger" Blaze pointed out. Almost sounding like Aslan. Blaze quickly realized Shadowclaw have given him an intense glance of anger. He placed his ears down, and his tail fell to the ground. "are you doubting me?" Shadowclaw questioned. Blaze widened his eyes. "I..." he stuttered, not giving Shadowclaw an answer. "well, if you DO doubt me. There's always an option for going back to be loser face, the kittypet" Shadowclaw snarled. obviusly Blaze was hurt, and wanted to say something. but he didnt. Shadowclaw gave a 'hmpf' and turned away. she then darted away from Blaze and Copper. hearing Blaze sigh. 

Shadowclaw headed back to the barn, where Pig was ready to welcome her. When she was two fox lenght away, he darted up to her. "Shadowclaw, im afraid Aslan has started a..." Pig couldnt seem to find the word that would fit. Shadowclaw brushed past him and into the barn. over at the giant hay stack, Minty and her kits stood underneath. together with Sky, Cream, Savage and Wild. all looking up at the cat on the top. Cliff and Runner stood behind him. Runner's teeth bared in a snarl. 

"whats going on?" Shadowclaw asked. Runner turned to her. "Aslan wants to kick Minty out!"
