chapter 9

Shadowclaw felt her paws dragging themself over to snowy moor. Blaze padded beside her, humor high.
"I cant wait to meet your clan! Do you think they'll like me? Do think they'll even take me in?!" Blaze mewed. Shadowclaw could tell he got nervous.  She turned around and gazed at him.

"I dont know. Maybe, i mean those cats who go into our territory ussually gets ripped into leaves" Shadowclaw mewed. Blaze crouched in fear.
"What?!" He shouted. Shadowclaw laughed.
"No dummy. Of course they'll want you!" Shadowclaw mewed.
"I was only just teasing" she calmed. Blaze looked up at Shadowclaw.

"Dont do that again" he mewed at stood up. Shadowclaw lifted an eyebrow.
"As long you never try to feed me to a dog again" Shadowclaw mewed. Blaze let out a mrrow of amusement.
"Deal" he mewed. Blaze followed Shadowclaw over the whole snowed moor. Shadowclaw wondered if Blaze ever froze. He didnt have fluffy fur like she did.

"Hey Shadowclaw?" Blaze mewed. Shadowclaw stopped walking and turned her head to the yellow tabby.
"Yeah?" She mewes, her eyes narrowed.
"Do you have a mate interrest?" Blaze asked. What kind of question is that? Shadowclaw thought and shook her head.
"I dont think any tom would like these claws to be their mate" Shadowclaw mewed and lifted her black paw. Blaze cracked a smile.

"Why are you smiling like that?" Shadowclaw asked. Blaze looked down at his paws.
"No reason" he muttered.
"Lets just keep going-" Shadowclaw leaped on Blaze, pinning him to the ground.
"I heard something, keep quiet" Shadowclaw ordered still being on top of Blaze, covoring his yellow tabby pelt with her white fur. Matching the snow. Shadowclaw opened her mouth to taste the air. As right she was, a dog padded by.

The dog had scratches and blood spladdered all over it's body.
"What happened?" Blaze whispered low.
"I dont know. Just keep your head down" Shadowclaw ordered pushing Blaze to the ground with her paws. The dog moved its head as it was searching for something. Shadowclaw scented something around the dog.
"Is it just me or does the dog have the same scent as all the clans?" Shadowclaw asked. Blaze shrugged.

Shadowclaw and Blaze waited till the dog had gone, but it wouldnt go away.
"Why wont it go away?" Blaze whispered. Shadowclaw shrugged.
"Maybe its because its looking for flying mice to fly by. How should i know!" Shadowclaw whispered highing her voice in the end. The dog then walked away. Its tail lashing in anger. Shadowclaw moved her paws from Blaze. Blaze got up on his four paws.

"Did you also scent something on that dog?" Blaze asked and looked at Shadowclaw. Shadowclaw unsheated her claws.
"Lets find out" Shadowclaw growled. Shadowclaw took the other way the dog went and followed its scent trail.
"These scents, kinda have the scent of you" Blaze observed. Shadowclaw rolled her eyes.
"You say i smell of crow-food and death?" Shadowclaw dared and smirked. Blaze lowered his ears.

"No, no, no, not like that. I mean..." Blaze stopped when he noticed Shadowclaw smirking.
"You were joking, right?" Blaze mewed. Shadowclaw nodded.
"I think Energystar will name you Scaredycat when we get to them-" Blaze jumped infront of Shadowclaw.
"You mean im not allowed to be named Blaze?" Blaze asked. Shadowclaw gazed at him.
"No. Atleast i dont think so. Being given a name just proves your loyalty" Shadowclaw mewed. Blaze let out a deep breath.
"Good. Hey, do you think i could be named Blazeclaw?" Blaze asked. Shadowclaw began laughing.

"No way. You have to be a fierce fighter first" Shadowclaw mewed. Blaze lightened up.
"Then start teaching" Blaze mewed. Shadowclaw looked at the tom and tilted her head.
"What?" Shadowclaw mewed confused. Blaze rolled his eyes with a smile.
"Start teaching me how to be fierce. Teach me to fight!" Blaze begged. Shadowclaw narrowed her eyes.
"You just killed a cat that could have killed me" Shadowclaw remimded him.
"That doesnt count" Blaze insisted. Shadowclaw looked stoic.
"It kinda does"

Shadowclaw turned and padded with Blaze right behind her tail.
"Whats that horryfying stench?" Blaze complained and placed a paw on top of his nose. Shadowclaw tasted the air.
"Thats... Furyfang... Firefeather... and Thrushwing?" Shadowclaw looked around.
"Those are cats right?" Blaze asked. Shadowclaw nodded and gazed around.
"Lets follow their stench. Maybe it'll lead us to the clans" Shadowclaw mewed and followed the scent.

Shadowclaw raced forward the scent line. Ever fox lenght they came, the stronger the scent became.
"I can smell something!" Blaze mewed from behind, trying to catch up to Shadowclaw.
Shadowclaw ignored him but started running faster. I dont like this! Somethings off. Shadowclaw thought with widened eyes.

Shadowclaw finally reached it. The plsce where the scent had started. But then she wished she hadnt seen this. Cats lying dead on the ground. Shadowclaw regonized Thrushwing, Firefeather, Sparrowwing and Furyfang. By the sight of Furyfang, Shadowclaw lost her balance and dropped her body in the white snow. The cats blood covoring the clearing.

"Why... not Furyfang! Starclan why did you take her?!" Shadowclaw looked up in the sky. Snow had begun slowly. Shadowclaw padded over to Furyfang and placed her head in Furyfang's fur.
"I will never ever forget you my friend" Shadowclaw mumbled. Shadowclaw felt a tail touch her shoulder. She look up to see Blaze stand beside. Fear and sorrow struck his face. Blaze glanced around. Shadowclaw had counted up to nine dead cats.

Shadowclaw got on her paws and looked into Blaze's green eyes. Blaze lifted his head over Shadowclaw's and comforted her.
"I bet she's a safer place now" he comforted. As much as Shadowclaw wanted to believe that, she couldnt believe it.
"But she... she was my best friend..." Shadowclaw exclaimed. Blaze lashed his tail and touched Shadowclaw's.

"We will bury them here" Shadowclaw whispered. Blaze nodded slowly.
"All of them?" Blaze asked and moved his head.
"All of them" Shadowclaw declaired and began digging in the snow. I hope you're safe Furyfang.
