chapter 20

Melodypaw glanced at the retuning wounded cats. Energystar sprung down from the leaders point and stood inftont of Cherrypelt, Firestripe and Bluemoon.
"Where?" Energystar demanded. Clawfoot and the senior warriors ran over besides Energystar.
"We were patrolling at the Leafclan border, and them we headed to the camp. And thats where we were attacked" Cherrypelt explained. Energystar turned to Clawfoot. Clawfoot's blue gaze were narrowed in fury. The silver tabby glanced around in the camp. Melodypaw felt her heart beating faster and louder.
"Bluemoon and Cherrypelt, go to Seasonleaf and rest. Firestripe, lead the patrol to its den" Clawfoot ordered. Bluemoon and Cherrypelt nodded and stumbled over to the golden medicine cat.

"The patrol cats are me, Crow-wind, Deathcloud, Melodypaw, Leappaw, Flamewing and Oakstripe" Clawfoot announced. And Just to think he's only been deputy in a few moons. Melodypaw gazed up at Flamewing and gave his shoulder a little nudge. Everything just went down for Flamewing since Firefeather. Melodypaw thought sadly. She glanced around and saw Leappaw sitting alone. Serves him right. She felt a growl rise in her throat. Flamewing pressed his nose into Melodypaw's shoulder. Melodypaw gazed fown at him.
"Please dont be angry with him. Cant you go apolagize and be friends?" Flamewing asked. Melodypaw glared in disbelief.
"After all he've said! I'd rather get killed!" Melodypaw hissed. Flamewing crawled back. Oh no!

Melodypaw took a pace forward and leaned into Flamewing's chest.
"Im sorry" Melodypaw mewed. Flamewing pressed his head closer to Melodypaw. I love you Flamewing. I wish i could tell you. Melodypaw thought and lowered her small ears. Flamewing's tail swung over to Melodypaw's and slowly wrapped itself around. I hope he thinks the same of me. Melodypaw thought sadly.
A white pelt brushed past Melodypaw and Flamewing. Melodypaw lifted her head. Leappaw had three scrawny mice hanging from his jaws. He carried to the mices over to the nursery. I guesd i'd better get going to fishcatcher. Melodypaw thought. She looked up at Flamewing and licked his cheek.

"I got to check up on Fishcatcher" Melodypaw mewed. Flamewing nodded and Melodypaw darted away from Flamewing and into the elder den. She slowly padded into the nest of Fishcatcher, seeing his smoke gray flank rise and fall. Fishcatcher lifted his head and flicked it around to see Melodypaw.
"And where have you been?!" He snarled. Melodypaw lowered her head.
"My tail has been filled with ticks! Go get some mouse bile and I'll tell you a story" Fishcatcher grunted and rolled on his other side. Melodypaw growled. She turned around and raced over to Seasonleaf.

Melodypaw returned to Fishcatcher with mouse bile on her paws. The liqued filled her nose with a horrible stench. Fishcatcher raised his head.
"Did a badger get you. What took you so long?!" Fishcatcher asked. Melodypaw didnt say anything but padded over to Fishcatcher's tail with the mouse bile in her paws. She gently placed the mouse bile on Fishcatcher's smoke black tail.
"Now, which story would you like to hear?" Fishcatcher asked. Melodypaw thought for a moment.
"When Goldenstar invaded our camp with rogues" Melodypaw mewed. Fishcatcher flicked his head to Melodypaw.

"Well you were only a kit by then. Alright I'll tell ya" Fishcatcher decided. Melodypaw had filled Fishcatcher's ticky tail with mouse bile, and now sat down beside him.
"Shadowclaw and Bluemoon just returned with the terrible news that Bigstorm had tried to kill Shadowclaw" Fishcatcher mewed. Narrowing his eyes when he said Bigstorm.
"I remember him. He used to toss us around in the nursery" Melodypaw remembered. Fishcatcher nodded.
"But suddenly Goldenstar jumped down and killed his deputy Sparrowfeather, after that he grabbed your brother and threw her into a rock" Fishcatcher mewed. Melodypaw raised her head.

"Leappaw have been thrown into a rock?" Melodypaw asked. Fishcatcher looked at Melodypaw with worry.
"Perhaps i shouldnt have mentioned that" Fishcatcher murmurred. Melodypaw got on her paws.
"I have more than one brother?" Melodypaw asked. Fishcatcher glanced around. He signaled Melodypaw to come closer. Melodypaw leaned in. Fishcatcher lifted his muzzle closer.
"You had a brother named Bramblekit. A little brown tabby" Fishcatcher whispered. Melodypaw widened her eyes.
"Tigertail never told us this" Melodypaw muttered. Fishcatcher laid his head on the ground with a bump.

"Losing a kit and seeing it die is too much for a mother to bare" Fishcatcher mewed. Melodypaw glanced away.
"I... i have to go. Call me if you need anything" Melodypaw mewed and darted out of Fishcatcher's den. She raced over to the nursery but suddenly bumped into another cat.
"Watch it Melodypaw!" Leappaw snapped. Melodypaw narrowed her eyes. Why couldnt Goldenstar have taken him?! Melodypaw unsheated her claws.
"I dont have time for you Leappaw" Melodypaw hissed and brushed past Leappaw. But not more than a tail lenght, Leappaw spoke.
"Oh but you have time for Flamewing? That lucky tom" Leappaw taunted. Melodypaw took a deep breath. Without answering she ran into the nursery. Starmoon had her three kits suckling at her belly. How cute can kits get. She spotted Tigertail sleep with Berrykit and Nightkit in her nest.

Melodypaw slowly sneaked over to Tigertail. Melodypaw nudged Tigertail's glat fore head with her nose.
"Tigertail" Melodypaw whispered. Tigertail slowly opened her sweet amber eyes.
"Hi Melodypaw" Tigertail yawned and stretched her legs.
"What brings you here?" She asked. Melodypaw looked away. Lets cut to the chase.
"You never told me i had a brother besides Leappaw" Melodypaw mewed. Tigertail widened her eyes in surprise and sadness. Suddenly she started sobbing.
"The fact of knowing my kit got taken away from me infront of my eyes, hurt me to much. I never wanted you two to know... who told you?!" Tigertail spat, still sobbing. Melodypaw took a pace back. Staring wide eyed at her mother.
"Fishcatcher" Melodypaw muttered. Tigertail narrowed her eyes.
"He is a dead elder!" Tigertail hissed under her breath. Tigertail glanced down at the kits at her belly. She looked at the she-cats with soft and loving amber eyes. Tigertail looked back at Melodypaw.

"Go now. I heard you are going to chase some Badgers out" Tigertail mewed and lashed her tail after Melodypaw. Melodypaw jumped back and padded into the clearing.
