chapter 6

Leappaw pressed against Melodypaw's body. She had been crushed when Furyfang left. Melodypaw always wanted to make Furyfang proud, and make her forget about Bigstorm. Furyfang's first Apprentice.

"Leappaw, Melodypaw. We are about to run now!" Heatherpaw reminded them Leappaw got up with Melodypaw beside him. The patrol had left and it was about time forbthe rest of the clans to cross to the mountains before the dogs return.

Leappaw padded out with Melodypaw behind him. Leappaw spotted Deathcloud talking to Flamewing.
"Come on" Leappaw mewed to Melodypaw and raced over to Deathcloud and Flamewing.

"Hi Deathcloud" Leappaw mewed and dipped his head in greetings. Deathcloud dipped his head after. Melodypaw didnt look at Deathcloud, but her gaze was atatched to Flamewing. Losing a sister is hard. I wouldnt know what to do with myself if i lost Melodypaw. Leappaw thought and gave Melodypaw a thankfull look.

"Hi Flamewing. You doing well?" Melodypaw asked. Flamewing looked up from his paws, as he just noticed she stood there.
"What oh yeah. Im, doing well" Flamewing murmered.
"Are you ready to run?" Melodypaw asked carefully. Flamewing sighed but nodded.
"Firefeather will not have died invain" Flamewing growled. Flamewing's fur bristled is fear. Melodypaw padded up beside him and nudged his flank.
"Easy Bristlefur, easy" Melodypaw calmed, still giving Flamewing the nick name Bristlefur. She did call me Twoeyes once.

Flamewing snorted and looked into Melodypaw's blue green gaze. Heck no! Leappaw clawed the ground.
"Leappaw" Deathcloud mewed to get his attention. Leappaw moved his gaze on Deathcloud.
"The leaders want the aueens and elders go first with the warriors behind. You will go with Tigertail and the Queens" Deathcloud informed. Leappaw nodded.
"Go find them" Deathcloud mewed.

Leappaw turned around and saw the queens gossiping. Leappaw noticed Tigertail and raced over to her.
"Tigertail! Im going to be escorting the queens and kits" Leappaw mewed. Tigertail turned to her son.
"Oh im so proud of you my little warrior" Tigertail mewed and licked Leappaw on his forehead.
"Tigertail!" Leappaw exclaimed. Tigertail let out a mrrow of amusement.

"Can i introduce you to the other queens?" Tigertail asked. Leappaw thought for a heartbeat. Tigertail leaned in and whispered in his ear.
"You'll need to learn how many kita you have to protect" Tigertail whispered. Leappaw sighed.
"Fine..." he mewed. Tigertail lead Leappaw over to the other queens.

"Here we have Cherrycloud, Clouddawn, Leopardblaze, Starmoon who you already know, and Yellowflower" Tigertail introduced. Starmoon was already exspecting another litter. Fishcatcher's first kits. Leappaw remembered how Starmoon had cared for him and Melodypaw as kits.

Leappaw glanced at the queens. Clouddawn and Cherrycloud was exspecting, while Leopardblaze had her one kit at her belly, and Yellowflower had two she-cats at her paws.
"Get ready to move" Leappaw jumped, seing Gorepaw had pushed through. Leappaw lowered his ears at Gorepaw. Leappaw glanced back at the queens.
"Leopardblaze do you want help?" Leappaw asked the golden warrior. Leopardblaze shook her head gently.

"I can take Meadowkit. Help Yellowflower with hers" Leopardblaze mewed. Leappaw nodded and padded over to Yellowflower. He grabbed a brown she-cat by the scruff and carried her away.
"Mama!" The kit squiled. Yellowflower ran up beside Leappaw with the otjer kit in her jaws.
"Its okay Mousekit. Leappaw is here to help" Yellowflower mewed.

Jayfur of Leafclan, Thistletail of Spiritclan, Blizzardstorm of Moonclan, Dustfeather of Sunclan, and Bluemoon of Dawnclan were standing up front. Waiting for the kits, queens, elders and apprentices had padded by. A small hill waited the cats. Leappaw groaned. Up we go.

They all started to walk up and into the mountains. Leappaw still had Mousekit squiling between his jaws. Leappaw and the queens reached the top of the hill. Looking out Leappaw saw how the mountains had jagged stones, huge rocks, hig hills and a few trees. We cant live here. Leappaw paniced. Skyfoot of Sunclan and Sootheart of Spiritclan ran up beside Leappaw.

"I imagened this could have turned out better" Sootheart murmered. Skyfoot ran up besode the smoke black tom.
"Are you crazy cant you see how big the territories can get?!" Skyfoot asked. Sootheary and Leappaw exchanged glances.
"In another language, we cant live here" Sootheart corrected.
"We can!" Skyfoot argued. Sootheart stepped up.
"Cant!"
"Can!"
"Cant!"
"Can!"

"Enough!" Snowstar padded up to the two warrios and stepped in between them.
"Sparrowwing's death will count. We will find a new home. And should it not be here, we will continue" Snowstar ended. Skyfoot nodded, so did Sootheart.
"I will send you three to go down to explore?" Snowstar mewed. Leappaw placed Mousekit down and the she-kit stumbled over to her mother.

"But We're not in the same cla-" Leappaw got caught off by Snowstar flexing his claws.
"We will go" Sootheart interrupted and signaled Leappaw with his tail to follow. Leappaw groaned and followed Sootheart and Skyfoot down the hill.

"How long have we been walking?" Skyfoot complained. The three cats have been walking in a long time. Leappaw had to admit that he had come to like the other two toms. Sootheart had the heart of a leader, and Skyfoot is a great warrior.
"Hey Leappaw?!" Skyfoot shouted and raced down beside Leappaw.

"Yeah?" Leappaw mewed and gazed at the dusty brown tom.
"Can you tell me again how Dawnclan lost Shadowclaw?" Skyfoot asked. Skyfoot had constantly talked about how he and Shadowclaw were friends. Leappaw though didnt care for much.
"Well she saved me" Leappaw mewed. Skyfoot nodded but sadness in his eyes.
"I hope Starclan brings her home" Skyfoot whispered.

"Stop in the name of Stoneteller!" Sootheart and the patrol stopped up. Skyfoot crouched down in a fighters position. Soon five cats appeard. Two crawling out under a rock and three coming down at a tree. Leappaw noticed a beautiful pale grey she-cat with blue eyes.

"H-hello" Skyfoot mewed his voice cracking with fear.
"We mean no harm!" Sootheart stepped in. The five cats gazed at him.
"What are someone like you doing in the mountains?" A brown dappled tom mewed his amber eyes blazing.
Sootheart stepped forward.
"We've travelled a long way to reach, me and my clans only wish to find a new home" Sootheart explained. A black she-cat sprung at Sootheart and pinned him to the ground.

"Were you planning on driving us out of our home?!" The black she-cat hissed. Leappaw gazed at the cats. They all flexed their claws, ready for a fight. This isnt fair. We're 3 and they're 5.
