"Excuse me?" I blurted.
"Isn't it fabulous?" My mother squealed, clapping her hands.
"Australia?" I laughed in disbelief.
"Oh, we have to put the house on the market!" My dad said. He stood up from the couch and called a real estate agent.
"Mom, we can not move to Australia!"
"Why not?" My mom looked heart broken and I felt bad.
"It's way too far and I have friends here!" I explained.
"Oh honey, don't worry! You'll make new friends in Australia," she said with a fake smile plastered on her face.
"Go upstairs and start packing. We leave in two weeks." With that, my mom stood up from the couch and walked into the kitchen to see how my dad was doing with the agent on the phone.
I scoffed once she was out of the room and then I ran upstairs to start packing.
My phone started ringing and the caller ID said that it was Blake. I slid my finger over the screen and held it up to my ear.
"Hello?" My voice cracked a little and I realized that I was crying.
"Hey- wait, are you okay Raelene?" Blake's voice seemed to change from excitement to worry.
"Yeah. Actually, no. I'm not okay. Far from it." I sat down on the edge of the bed and bent over so my head was between my knees.
"I'm coming over," he told me before hanging up.
I stood up to continue packing my things into boxes. I heard voices coming from downstairs, and then there were footsteps on the steps and my door flew open.
Blake stood in the doorway, his eyes raking over the boxes all over the ground.
"What's going on here?" he asked me.
"How did you know I was going to be here and not at Alek's?"
"James told me that you asked for a ride here, so I assumed you moved back. What's going on?" he repeated.
"I'm moving."
"What? Where?" Blake crossed the room and gripped my shoulders. His knees were bent slightly so he could look me in the eyes.
"Is it like Washington or Nebraska or Louisiana?"
"Try Australia." My eyes were stinging and Blake's mouth fell open. He pulled me into a hug and I weakly lifted my arms to wrap them around the back of his neck.
"When do you leave?" His breath moved a few strand of hair on the top of my head.
"Two weeks," I choked out.
I felt Blake inhale sharply once he found out how little time I had left in Los Angeles.
"I don't wanna leave."
"I don't want you to leave either."
"Can we go to the park? I wanna tell everybody that I'm moving."
Blake nodded and I called Beth, Alice, James and Alek and then we headed to the park to meet them.
I sat on the edge of the fountain next to Blake and we waited for everyone else to show up. Beth and Alice were first, James was a close second and Alek showed up much later than he told us.
