Please play 'Ashes and Wine' by A Fine Frenzy. :)
I don't think I've ever ran as fast as I did when I was trying to get to Blake. I passed the bus stop where Alek picked me up, and I passed my house. By the time I reached Blake's house, I was out of breath and I had a massive headache.
I raised my hand to pound it on the door only to have it open the instant my palm came in contact with the wood.
"Raleeeen!" Blake shouted, pulling me into a hug.
"Ya made it! God, ya are so preetty," he slurred.
"Okay, Blake." I pushed him off of me. "We need to sober you up, okay?"
"Okay," he said. I led him into the living room and laid him on the couch. I walked into the kitchen to grab a glass of water for Blake and I also poured a cup of coffee for him. I carried the glass and mug into the living room and handed the water to Blake.
"Drink," I demanded. Blake obeyed and put the glass to his lips and chugged the whole glass right then. I set the mug of coffee down and grabbed the glass.
"Don't touch the coffee, okay?"
"Okay." Blake held his hand on his forehead and closed his eyes.
I filled the glass of water again and carried it back to Blake, thankful that he hadn't touched the coffee.
"All right, now sit up." Blake sat up and I moved the mug towards his lips and he tried to grab it from me.
"No, I'm not trusting you to hold this while you're sitting on a light colored sofa." Blake wrapped his hands around mine and my heart fluttered at the contact. He rolled his eyes at me, but let me help him drink the coffee.
"Better?" I asked and he nodded.
"I'm gonna go take a cold shower real quick," he stated and stood up from the couch. I let him wrap his arm around my shoulders and I helped him walk to the bathroom. His words weren't slurred anymore, but he wasn't walking in a straight line.
I started the water for him, leaving it on the cold setting, and left the bathroom. I walked into Blake's room and sat down on his bed. After a few minutes, he walked in. He had already changed into low riding sweatpants, but still wasn't wearing a shirt.
"Are you almost sober now?" I asked, still angry at him for making me leave Alek's place.
"Yeah. I'm fine. You can go now," he snapped. I sat up and crossed my legs, staring at Blake's back.
"I'm not leaving until you give me an explanation, Blake."
"Stop saying my name. Please. It kills me. What do you wanna know?"
"Why did you call me? Of everyone you could've called, you called me?"
"I don't know, okay?" he shouted. "I don't know why I called you! I've been trying so hard to forget you Raelene. It's the hardest thing I've ever had to do."
"Why do you want to forget me?" I squeaked.
"You got on the bike. I told you what I was gonna do, and you didn't care. You still got on the bike." Did his voice crack?
"You think I didn't care? I did what I should've done, not what I wanted to do."
"Raelene?"
"Yeah?"
"Will you stay the night?"
I stayed silent.
"Do what you want to do. Not what you should. Please."
