"Hey stranger!" Austin called down to me. Blake grabbed my wrist and twisted me around to face him.
"What are you doing?!" he whispered furiously.
"I'm talking to my friend," I stated and crossed my arms.
"Friends don't make out with each other," he pointedly said.
"Raelene, please. I don't want my last day with you to be us arguing."
"That's what we do, Blake. You drive me crazy and I drive you crazy."
"There's a difference between driving me crazy and making me feel like I belong in a mental institution."
I squinted my eyes at him. "When have I ever made you feel like you belong in an insane asylum?"
"When I see you with Alek, or James, or Austin!" he shouted too loudly.
"Everything all right down there?" Austin called.
"Fine!" I called up.
"My shift ends in about fifteen minutes," he told me. I smiled up at him and he smiled back.
"Raelene!" Blake shouted. I turned to face him again.
"Yes?"
"Really? It's my last day here and you're making plans with that guy?" Blake's arms were waving in the air and I had to try and hold in my laughter at how ridiculous he looked.
"We'll all hang out together," I suggested and started walking towards the ocean again.
Blake was following me and kept trying to talk to me.
"You think I wanna hang out with him? I wanna be with you, Raelene. You."
My feet were underwater and I kept walking. By the time Blake had sped up to stand in front of me, I was belly deep in the water.
"What, are you just gonna keep walking into the middle of the ocean?"
"Blake, why are you even here? Why did you come visit me with Beth and Alice?" I asked.
"I wanted to see you."
I licked my lips and looked away from Blake.
"Raelene, look at me, please."
"Blake! Enough! When I realized that I had feelings for you, I knew that it was because we had this thing where we'd argue playfully and you'd embarrass me and you were so cocky! I liked that! I liked how it was fun during the day and then night was when we spilled our hearts out for the other to pick at."
I pushed my hair behind my ears, Blake standing in the water in front of me and it took everything I had to keep my eyes on his and not his stomach.
"Now, you're so... so vulnerable! We spill our guts out during the day and fight, really fight, when the sun goes down. I don't want to be with someone who doesn't leave any mystery! I wanna have a fun relationship with someone, not one that makes me want to bang my head against a wall."
Blake was grinding his teeth and breathing heavily.
"Like the fun you have with Austin?"
"Yes!" I blurted without thinking.
