Rachel kicked at the dog, frantically, her screaming turning into grunts. Draco had reached for his wand and was pointing it at the dog, trying to get good aim but he couldn't. The dog was scrabbling around while Rachel desperately tried to escape it's grip. She flung onto her stomach and grasped at the ground, trying to stop herself from being dragged away.
"Draco, run!" Rachel shouted, at first he seemed reluctant. "Please, Draco, go, get help!" Rachel cried, he nodded and ran off.
As soon as he had gone, Sirius Black pulled Rachel as hard as he could away. Rachel kicked as hard as hard as she could in a last desperate attempt, she managed to hit Sirius in the jaw, he let go of her leg. Rachel picked herself up and tried running away but she couldn't. She fell over with a cry, her ankle hurt too bad. She just knew she wasn't going anywhere.
A hand grasped her shoulders and pulled her up, Rachel yelped and flung her elbow into the face of mass murderer Sirius Black, he had turned into his human form. He groaned and clutched his face, but no sooner had Rachel attempted to run once more, he had grabbed her again. The man grabbed Rachel's arm and twisted it into an uncomfortable position, which made her fall to the floor onto her stomach. Her face was pressed against the dirt and she could feel the breath of Sirius on her neck.
"Please, please, I haven't done anything! Get your slimy hands off of me!" Rachel growled, struggling under the pain of her arm still held in position.
He slowly let go of her arm and his weight lifted as Sirius stood up, Rachel quickly spun around to look at him, resting on her elbows.
"You listen here now, Rachel Potter, I am not going to hurt you!" He hissed.
"W-wait.. what?" Rachel confusedly gasped. "How do you know my name?" Rachel's head was spinning from shock.
Sirius let out a deep sigh and ran his hands through his greasy, tangled hair. He sat a little away from where Rachel was and stared at her for a while. "God, you look like your mother..." he whispered sadly, "James's eyes though..."
"Stop it, I know that, enough people have told me that." She scowled at him. "Now what do you want with me?"
Sirius chuckled dryly and shook his head. "His attitude as well... tell me is your brother like this?"
"Don't mention my brother." Rachel snapped, she shifted her weight but let out a yelp, a burning pain shooting up her leg.
Opposite her, Sirius looked worriedly at her leg. He slowly moved forward and drew out his wand.
"Get away from me!" Rachel cried, shuffling further from him.
"No, Rachel stop it come here!" He said, edging closer.
"NO!" Rachel screamed.
Sirius raised his wand. Rachel instinctively threw her hands over her face.
"Epsikey."
Rachel pulled her hands away from her face and looked down at her ankle. Sirius was focused on it, his face concerned and stressed. He noticed Rachel was looking at him.
"Listen, Rachel, please." He begged.
Sirius Black looked tired, upset and frustrated. His hair was tangled and messy, his beard needed shaving and his clothes were shabby. Rachel opened her mouth to speak but Sirius cut her off.
"I did not murder your parents."
"Well then I'm a 50 year old man." She sarcastically hissed.
"Stop it." He snapped, making her flinch. "I did not murder your parents, I didn't kill those muggles either. I'm innocent!"
"Oh really, you want me to believe that?!" Rachel squawked.
"Yes."
Rachel threw herself off the ground and pulled out her wand, its tip focused on Sirius' face. "You've lost your mind!" She exclaimed, her voice cracking slightly.
Sirius stood up in front of her, shaking his head once again. Rachel looked behind her to see if any help was coming, but she couldn't see any.
"I'm not lying! Rachel Potter, the day I found out your parents had been murdered and that a friend had betrayed us, I sought for revenge. I found the traitor in London, I cornered him and he claimed that I had killed your parents, the sly git caused an explosion killing all 12 of those muggles. To seal the deal he cut off a finger to make it look like I had killed him! Rachel, you are now the only person who knows I did not kill anyone!" He cried, using his hands for emphasis.
"Who did it? Who betrayed you all?" Rachel asked, her wand still raised at him uncertainly.
"Peter Pettingrew!" Sirius moaned, throwing his hands in the air.
"What... Pet-Peter Pettingrew?" Rachel faltered, Sirius's face lit up and he nodded vigorously. "B-But why?" Rachel lowered her wand.
Sirius looked as though he may cry, but anger washed across his face. "I'll give you some clues. His animagus form is a rat, his nickname is Wormtail. He is a traitor through and through, Peter Pettingrew is out there still Rachel, believe me."
Something about Sirius's cracked voice and tattered look improved her impression of him. His eyes were not lying and it was clear to see. Rachel took a breath and looked at the floor.
"Does Remus know?"
"He thinks I killed them, he doesn't know. Last time I saw him was before I went after Peter. 12 years ago." He sighed.
Slowly, Rachel pocketed her wand, he wasn't lying. She could tell between someone lying or not. She could tell a murderer to someone innocent. Sirius Black was innocent and not lying.
"Rachel, I would never have sold your parents souls. When you and Harry were little, I loved seeing you. You would crawl up to me and try to say Sirius, but you never could so you called me 'Dog'." He fondly smiled.
"Dog?" Rachel laughed, still tense, her arms wrapped around her.
"Yup, I may have changed in front of you two... Harry just sat there but you were hysterical. Bloody laughing and rolling on you back because of it." He chuckled, recalling the memory.
"Sirius?" Rachel whispered. "What are you going to do?"
"Well, I need you to promise me something Rachel. I know you've just met me and I can tell you're still slightly on edge but please. You cannot tell anybody. No one. Not even Remus. When I think it's right I will let you know, but please no one. Forget this ever happened." Sirius' voice was stern.
"Okay..." Rachel sighed.
He smiled a toothy grin but stopped suddenly. "I'm sorry about your ankle, by the way, but I needed to talk to you."
"How did you know who I was anyway?" Rachel asked curiously.
"Well, this isn't the first time I've been here... and you look so much like Lily, for a moment I thought I was 16 again." Sirius explained.
"Have you not seen Harry?"
"I saw him before the school term, he was getting on the Knight Bus. Besides, he's never alone. Always with you, that Weasley boy or the girl and usually with Remus too. However, you tend to go off on your own. But when I saw you earlier, I just had to tell you. 12 years it's been and I haven't ever stopped missing you two."
Rachel sighed as she looked at him with sad eyes. Her heart ached in her chest. She knew the story of her parents being killed all too well. The whole world knew. But here, in the Forbidden Forest, she was learning the real truth.
"You should probably go." Sirius began to walk away. "I'll write you."
"Sure..." Rachel looked to him, "where are you going?"
"To hide." Sirius responded, his eyes wandering around the forest. "Rachel," he looked back at her, "I'm yours and Harry's godfather."
"Oh."
