It was a week before Valentines day and the school had been decorated to suit the particular holiday. Small little Cupid's flew around firing tiny arrows at people. The arrows were ment to send love to the people who were hit but instead they got angry and hexed the poor little Cupids.
It was quite evident to see who thought they did not have a Valentine as they moodily walked around the school huffing and puffing. However the ones who were guaranteed a Valentine walked around all dreamy with smiles plastered on their faces.
Rachel had no time to think of the holiday as she ran through the school. She was going to be late for the match against Ravenclaw because she had been trying to comfort a crying Pavarti in the common room. Rachel decided that Valentines day was particularly annoying this year. It wasn't the first time she was comforting an alone person.
Fed up of running and the fear of being late, Rachel jumped on her Nimbus 2001 and sped off down the hall. She ignored the shouting of Professor Sinistra, the astronomy teacher, and carried on. On her broom, she flew all the way down to Hagrid's hut where she hopped off the broom and sprinted the remaining difference.
The Gryffindor team were still having their preptalk as she threw herself through the door. She mumbled an apology once she had sat down and began tying her boots up. Rachel intently listened as Angelina reminded the chasers about the manoeuvre. They simply called it 'three cups', it was a silly name but it did not matter.
"So Fred and George, you stick near enough to our chaser's. That way they'll be able to get to the hoops without being hit." Oliver instructed.
The twins nodded and looked at the girls with an enthusiastic smile.
"Rachel, Angelina and Katie, you know what to do." Oliver said with a determined smile, the girls nodded back. "Harry I can't exactly tell you what to do, just try and catch the snitch as quickly as possible." He nodded.
Oliver moved away from the board he had drawn all over and stood in front of his team.
"Let's do this!" He chuckled and so the Gryffindors all headed out to the small little entrance they'd fly through once Lee began commentating.
Rachel laughed under her breath as she thought about Aspen on the other side of the pitch waiting. It was her first match as the Ravenclaw keeper and so Rachel guessed she was nervous.
The door opened and light shone through the little hallway the Gryffindor team stood in. They mounted their brooms and took off into the sky greeted by rounds of applause and Lee's slightly biased commentating.
As the team hovered in the sky, Ravenclaw flew up an joined them too. Between the crowd of blue Rachel could see Aspen looking slightly nervous so she gave her a small smile.
"And the game begins!" Lee yelled excitedly as the quaffle was released into the air.
Angelina soared into catch it with Katie and Rachel flying close. They formed their small triangle and frantically began to pass the quaffle between themselves. Fred flew on Rachel's side and George by Katie as they hit away the bludgers that got too close.
The three chasers approached the hoops leaving Angelina with the quaffle. She passed it for the final time to Rachel who caught it and was about to throw it at the hoops when she was rammed into by another Ravenclaw chaser. The surprise hit Rachel and she slipped off her broom dropping the quaffle.
Her fingers clutched on to the broom as she awkwardly hung in the air. Frantically, Rachel lifted herself on her broom with much effort as a bludger soared towards her. Fred flew in quickly and hit it as hard as he could to the chaser who had hit Rachel.
