It is quite impressive what humans can do. I've always been amazed by the things they do. Something that amazes me more is that the call me, through wars. Taking a lot of souls in an instant is very complicated. Everyone has their time. Maybe you are asking what happens to the souls. Some, just stay doing nothing, like Barbara Steiner, who watches her husband every day. But there are others that follow and watch the living, like Rudy Steiner, who follows Liesel. He watches every single thing about her. What I'm more amazed of, is that he smiles all the time. He is smiling on watching Liesel talk to him, and he can hear her. This boy makes me cry.

Quick note of the narrator: Why?
Every single person in this world always asks Why? Well, I ask that question to. Why? Why does this boy touches my heart and makes me cry? Why does the book thief caught me when I saw her? Why do I know her story? Why do I keep her book? Why do I have to follow my policy when I can take everyone when I want to? Why do I feel like I should return Rudy to life? Why do I help villains? Why?

Every question has its answers, and sometimes They can be answered by other questions. Questions are quite impressive.

Christmas was getting closer. Liesel's birthday to, where she'll get fifteen, finally. Rudy's birthday was a month before Liesel's, so she decided to do something for him. She was thinking of some ideas, walking through Grande Street, with her winter dress, and a coat. She was holding a green book in her arms, and Lucas was walking beside her, with his hands in his pocket, and his smokey hair full of little snowflakes.
"So, do you like snow?" Lucas asked.
"Yeah, kind of, but I almost killed someone with it, and I started a friendship with it" she said. Her blonde hair was falling in her shoulder in a braid, full of snowflakes to.
"What do you mean by killing someone with it?" Liesel gave him a cold look and said.
"I really don't want to talk about it now, specially here" Lucas raised his eyebrows.
"Wanna talk about it sometime?"
"Sometime, but not now". It was almost 7 o'clock, and they were heading back to their houses. Liesel finally changed the theme related to Max, and Rudy.
"Do you have sisters or brothers?"
"Yeah, one sister, she is two" Lucas replied.
"How cute" Lucas laughed.
"Not that much" Liesel laughed to.
"What about you, Liesel?"
"Used to have a brother, he died" Lucas grimaced.
"I'm sorry"
"Yeah, no worries, he died like 5 years ago"
"Still sorry" they kept walking. Quick thing: the bombs continued, because of the war. Liesel got fear to bombs, she was totally scared when the sirens sounded. She cried when they happened.
The sirens started to sound over Grande Street, and the people started to head to the harborage with some of the stuff. Liesel stopped in the middle of the street with her eyes widen.
"LIESEL! WE HAVE TO GO!" Lucas shouted, in the middle of the sound and fear. Liesel didn't move. "LIESEL!" She didn't move. Lucas ran through the crowd, and grabbed Liesel's legs, and passed his other arm underneath Liesel's arms. He carried her to the harborage, running. Liesel passed her arms through Lucas's neck, and cried in his shoulder.
"We are going to die" Liesel cried.
"No! Not this time!". They arrived to the harborage safe and sound, and Lucas left Liesel in the ground, carefully, and sat beside her. A woman started passing out some blankets, and Lucas put one around Liesel shoulders. The tears fell down through Liesel's cheeks.
"I'm afraid of the bombs" she said " because of what happened"
"I know" Lucas replied and caressed Liesel's back. "We are safe now". Ilsa arrived running to Liesel.
"Oh God, Liesel I was worried about you, thank you Lucas"
"No worries, Mrs. Hermann". Ilsa smiled.
"Do you want to stay with Lucas?" Liesel nodded, and Ilsa left. Liesel took out her book and put it on her legs. She stared at the book, and remembered << Go on, Saumensch! Read!>> Rudy said. She stared at the book, and put her head in Lucas's shoulder. And fell asleep, as the bombs sounded above their head.

Liesel was walking through the destructed Himmel Street. She was impressed of what happened. At the distance, she saw a boy, in pajamas, and the hair of lemons full of dirt.
"Liesel!" He shouted.
"Rudy!" She ran to him and they hugged. And they cried.
"I thought you were dead! I guess it was a dream" she said with broke voice.
"I'm alive Saumensch, now, what about a kiss?" And hey kissed, knowing that each other was alive.
"I love you Rudy"
"I love you to, Liesel" and they hugged. They searched for the others and found Rudy's family, dead. Liesel's parents, dead. And they both cried, together.
"Wait, where's Lucas?" Liesel asked.
"Who's Lucas?" Rudy asked.
"No one, a guy a dreamt with, that is not real". They smiled, and shared smiles.

"Liesel, wake up, it is over" Lucas whispered to her "Wake up". Liesel rubbed her eyes.
"Rudy?"
"Lucas"
"Oh" Liesel sat down, and grabbed her book. She hugged it and stared at the wall, for a long time.
