Let's just say that the things started to get interesting in the endings of May and early June. Why don't we skip to it?
~*Diary of Death*~
June the 6th, 1944. Normandy, France
I remember this day. Oh yes, it was a day that marked Nazi Germany, and France, of course. I collected more than 10,000 souls to be exact. A cold morning in France. Germany attacking beaches of France, and what could I do? Just collect souls, as I always do. I was getting sick of this war. I mean, what is the point of killing each other? What do you get? I'm pretty sure you just get satisfaction, of the victory over your enemies. But killing someone can hunt you for the rest of your life.
Like Alex Steiner, for example. He said it was his fault that Rudy died. If he could just sent him to that school. If he.
If, If, If. The world if full of 'if'. If I had done this, If you hadn't done this, etc. I don't like the word ' if '. Let's go back to Grande Street, in the morning of June 6th.
That morning, Liesel was reading at the library. Ilsa was reading to, with her, and as usual, Herr Hermann doing what a mayor does. It was a beautiful, and warm morning, with its orange colors passing through the library's window. It smelled like dust, and you could see the sun reflected in the water. Liesel changed the pages slowly, and the sound of paper calmed Liesel down. She enjoyed the sound. Nightmares stopped hunting Liesel. She calmed down after 10 months of the bombs. Also, they stopped because of the already 3 months relationship with Lucas.
The radio turned on. Liesel turned to the opened door and stared at the office that was just across the hallway. She heard the news.
"Today, June 6th, our troops invaded Normandy, France at 6:30 of the morning. Possibly bombarding tonight, so alert to the whole Germany population. Be alert to the news" Liesel squeezed the door frame, with anger, and hurt her hand palms. She opened the door carefully, and went out to walk. She knocked at Lucas's house, and Lucas opened immediately.
"You heard the news?" Liesel nodded and Lucas closed the door behind him. They walked, Liesel sighing, and Lucas staring at her.
"You should try to calm down, maybe there will be no bombs" Liesel sighed again.
"We are not sure" Lucas sighed to. Liesel turned to another side, and Lucas carried her up.
"What are you doing?!" She laughed. Lucas smiled. Liesel passed her arms around Lucas's neck, so she wouldn't fall. She kept laughing.
"I'm kidnapping you" Liesel laughed, and gave him a soft slap in the head.
"You Saurkel, you are not supposed to kidnap your girlfriend!" Lucas laughed, and put Liesel down. She passed an arm through Liesel's shoulders, and gave her a quick kiss in her temple. Liesel smiled.
"I really need an apple right now" Lucas said. Liesel laughed.
"You never stop eating!" Lucas smiled.
"Okay, so let's do something else" Liesel thought and said
"Secrets time" Lucas agreed and they sat in the grass.
"Ladies first" Lucas said, and Liesel smiled.
"Okay, so umm, when I was like ten or nine, I had a fight at school, with a boy" Lucas raised his eyebrows.
"Like, punching him and everything?" Liesel nodded "Whoa" Liesel laughed.
"And, I beat him" Lucas opened his eyes widely, and his mouth.
"Really?" Liesel nodded and laughed with Lucas's reaction.
"Your turn"
"Okay, umm, I had a fight to, in the Hitler Youth, with Franz Deutscher" Liesel laughed.
"He deserved it" Lucas smiled "What happened to him after the fight you had, when I was there?" Liesel asked.
"Which fight?" A male voice asked behind them. They both tirned and saw Lucas's father standing in front of them. Liesel covered her mouth with her hand.
"I-He- Liesel got hit- bleeding nose- I- umm" Lucas mumbled.
"You told me that you fell in the way back to the house, not that you had a fight, what was the reason of it?" His father asked. Lucas sighed.
"A boy was making fun of Liesel, and I just got angry and I-"
"Hit the boy " His father sighed and rubbed his face. "What am I going to do with you, Lucas? You started to behave madly when you started to see this girl" Liesel felt guilty. She looked at the ground.
"She doesn't have the guilt, okay? This is between you and me, not her" Liesel stood up.
"I should keep going" Liesel said. Lucas gave a last hateful stare to his father and followed Liesel.
"hey, Liesel, I'm sorry about that"
"Maybe he is right, you should keep your distance, so I won't make you take bad decisions" Lucas stopped her.
"I'm not capable to live without you, I love you and I need you" Liesel smiled, and gave him a quick kiss.
"I love you to" Liesel started to walk again. Lucas stopped her.
"Promise not to just go away from me?" Liesel smiled.
"Promised" And they walked together again. I could see in Liesel eyes that she wasn't lying, she said the truth and she did not keep distance from Lucas.
