Missing

Right when I thought my life had finally calmed down after getting in the middle of gang activity, I got a message from Chan: "Jeongin's gone missing, but Minho found a note in his room. You might want to come read it."

As soon as I read his message, I got my dad to drive me to their hideout, trying my best to bite back the fearful tears that threatened to escape. The second the car stopped moving, I jumped out and ran inside. The boys were already gathered around the main room, all looking forlorn with the exception of Minho who looked guilty. When they saw me, Chan stood up and handed me a piece of paper. I felt myself hesitate before grabbing it and reading it, knowing I would not like the words etched into it. I took a deep breath before starting to read. There was not much to read, but it still caused panic to rise in my gut.

"You took my little brother from me twice. Now I'll take your little brother in retribution. Signed, Lee Minkyu."

I bit my lip in fear. I knew what Minkyu was capable of. I'd experienced it myself. I began having flashbacks to the time he'd beaten me as my hand moved the still-prevalent scar on my neck. I sank to the floor, rereading the note over and over again as if it'd change anything.  I wanted to speak, to say something to the boys surrounding me, but no words would come out. I felt hopeless. The man I loved was taken by a man who I knew would not hesitate to hurt him as revenge. I had to find a way to get him back...but how?

After months of searching, we'd yet to find any information on Jeongin or Minkyu. It was as if he'd skipped town once he got Jeongin or something...Wait! That's it! They must've skipped town. I immediately called Chan, having an idea. I didn't even wait for his greeting when he picked up. "Where are Minho and Minkyu from? They aren't from Seoul, right?"

I could tell that he didn't understand, but he answered anyway. "They're from Gimpo. Why do you ask?"

"We've looked everywhere in Seoul, right? But we haven't even begun to look elsewhere. Not even other major cities, much less somewhere like Gimpo. Maybe he took Jeongin there."

Chan's attitude changed immediately when I explained. "You're a genius, y/n! I can't believe I didn't think of that! We'll set out to Gimpo tomorrow, but I want you to stay here. It's not safe for you to go to Gimpo with us when we're dealing with Minkyu. Even if the other guys from his gang aren't involved. His dad might be."

I just agreed, not planning on actually obeying. What did Chan expect? Did he really think that telling me not to go would stop me? Jokes on him. I'll just follow them and stay out of eyesight. It helped that they went by my house before leaving to tell my dad that they'd be out of town for a few days.

Before they could leave, I snuck into the trunk of their van with my bag. After about half an hour, the van slowed to a stop. Hearing the doors of the van open and close, I poked my head out of where I'd been hiding. When I didn't see any of the boys, I slowly and carefully came out of the van myself. Unfortunately...

One of the eight boys was still outside by the van. He'd been at the front of the van, so I didn't see him. When I heard his voice, I knew I was screwed.

"You're so predictable, Y/N. Chan knew you'd come along no matter what." There was no mistaking his deep voice as Felix. Hearing his voice so suddenly startled me.

I turned around to look at him and sighed. "What else would you expect me to do? Just wait around when God knows what's happening to my boyfriend? Besides, only Chan knows anything about first aid and it's not nearly enough to be prepared for anything that could happen. Face it, Felix, you need me."
