I started running through the forest, doing my best to keep my breathing steady.  I've been running for 2 hours now. With only a few breaks every 30 minutes.

I had seen something in the distance, but now I just see the ground as I try not to trip over another tree root. As I pushed myself harder, it became harder to keep track of the tree roots and the actual trees and the bushes... and normal forest plants that would hurt if I tripped or ran into them. It's incredibly hard to do while still knowing where I'm going.

I skidded to a stop after I saw some movement in the brush around me while looking for tree roots. "Who's there!?" I called, as if it would make anything come out or respond. But, it did conjure a response, not one that I would've preferred, though. i had hoped that it was just my imagination playing tricks on me.

A large silver wolf leaped out of the bushes, growling. I flinched back at the sight. Two smaller wolves emerged behind it, both blacker than night. They all approached with their razor-sharp teeth bared. I unsheathed the broadsword and stood my ground, even if I was terrified of these beasts. As I was told to do during my weapons training. Pulling down my hood so I could get a better view of them all. The silver wolf stopped approaching, and I looked away as I saw it start shifting, trying to tune out the blood-curdling noises. It was over before I knew it. Looking back, I realized that I just had an alpha at the other end of my blade. I put it back in it's sheath cautiously, eyes narrowed. His domination over me washed over my senses, but it did barely anything, since I had almost just as much power as him, even if he pretty mush ruled this whole realm.

He furrowed his eyebrows. "Why are you in my territory, elf?" He growled. "I am the Crown Princess of both Diana's Peak and The Fells. Do not speak to me in that tone, Alpha Xander." I put out both of my titles and own dominance in an attempt to make up for my 5'6 height compared to his 6 feet. After a few moments, his eyes became wide before he bowed slightly. "My apologies, Your Highness. But, my question still stands. Why have you entered my territory?" He said with a newfound politeness. I took a deep breath, trying to force down my nausea. "I need somewhere to lay low for a good while. Until everything calms down in the south." I answered, not commenting on the two wolves that stood beside him on both sides, both of them seemingly staring at me in awe. "Sure. I don't have any problems with it, as long as you promise to not leave the north until you're ready to leave." He said casually before he started turning around. Not like I had any plans to leave while I stayed here anyways. "I promise." I said, and he nodded his approval. "Let's get going then, Your Highness."

We approached the packhouse, where Alpha Xander had told me I would be staying. Considering what he could've done instead, I was thankful that he just chose for me to staying the main building, where the Alpha and Beta families stayed. No other wolf was allowed in without permission from both families. It was also where important pack meetings took place, from my limited bit of knowledge about the werewolves. Like how Xander was the only Alpha without a Luna, or how they've had more wars than they could keep count of anymore.

The Alpha opened the doors, which led into a hallway. "Welcome to the packhouse, Crown Princess." He smiled, leading me down the hallway. "Are you hungry?" He asked after we entered a grand living room. Surprisingly, I wasn't that hungry, but I still said yes to his question.

As we walked along, I thought about what my actions caused. If I hadn't ran that day, Theodore wouldn't be dead, but I wouldn't know about my heritage, either. Over the course of a few days, I had changed more than I had my entire life before that. I blinked rapidly to rid myself of my tears.

I don't understand why Theodore thought that I would do a better job at ruling over the Fells. If anything, I would only ruin it. I can only hope that my father or mother don't die anytime soon, because if either one did, I would never be able to take on that responsibility. I'm too young for it. I might be able to rule over Diana's Peak, but not the Fells. I would be surrounded by vampires there. All of which would probably turn on me in a moment's notice. I would just be a puny elf to them, not a queen.

"Your Highness." The Alpha's voice pulled me away from my thoughts. "What?" I blinked. "Time to eat."
