I woke up to Aidan's presence, that I hadn't known I'd been keeping track of, waking. I didn't dare open my eyes, because I would be reminded that I'm in the same room as a vampire prince. In the time that I had been trying to force myself to go back to sleep, Aidan hadn't moved from his sitting position.I figured that he already knew that I was awake, and I was making a bigger fool of myself, so I opened my eyes. Blinking them rapidly to rid them of any grogginess. I scrambled away from him until I was at the edge of the mattress, once I saw how close he was. He sighed at my behaviour. "How about we go get some breakfast?" He offered, standing and walking to my side of the bed, putting two hands under my arms as he got me out from under the blanket. I turned to yell at him, but, I soon realised that he wasn't wearing a shirt. A toned chest and arms greeted me. My cheeks flamed. "Um... let's get that breakfast." I mumbled once I was sure that I could talk. He chuckled. I sent a glare in his general direction, not wanting to lose my composure again.
I strode out of the room, my kind may be known for their fairytale beauty, but I still didn't know anything about vampires.
I still didn't know my way around, so I waited until Aidan came out of his room, now with a shirt on. I hoped he didn't mention what just happened. He's a stranger, Feiye! A vampire stranger! You have no business with him! Other than the possibility that my mother accepts his offer, and pretty much leads me to my death. As if he was reading my thoughts, Aidan's eyes narrowed. But he wasn't looking at me, he was staring at the now-open doorway.
"Aidan." A deep voice regarded him coldly. "Theodore." He replied just as cold. "Milady, can you please come with me?" I looked to the doorway, where the Crown Prince of the Fells held a hand out to me. My eyes widened. "This can't be happening." I took a few steps back.
The Fells was the only kingdom that hadn't given up all of their elf slaves. The nobles still held them to this day.
Theodore raised an eyebrow at my response, as if he hadn't expected me to deny him. His eyes landed on my ears. "Keeping slaves, are we, Aidan?" He commented. Aidan grinned crookedly. "Meet The Crown Princess of Diana's Peak, Feiye Firedaughter." He walked over to me. Theodore blinked. "Is she the one the prophecy speaks of?" He inquired. Aidan smirked. "I believe she is." He said, putting a hand on my shoulder. I yanked away from him. "What prophecy?!" I barked, glaring at them both. The two princes looked at each other, seemingly making a temporary agreement between them both. "An unholy war ended by Diana's descendant, a difficult choice to be made, which would give either side the victory. She who sits upon a peak, waiting for both parties to look for her.
Thou's name if Feiye, and is the most important aspect of the war." Theodore recited, meeting my eyes as he said it. I could tell he was surprised at something about me other than the prophecy. "It was told to both sides by an old elf prophet before he died. When the war started. Both sides were too stubborn to believe him back then." Aidan filled in the gaps.I stared at them both for a second before clenching my fists at my sides. "I would much rather slit my own throat than marry a vampire." I snarled, before barging out of the room.
At this point, I didn't care who I ran into, if I got lost, or it they come after me. I just wanted to get out of this damned kingdom. This castle.
I started running through the hallways, brushing past servants and nobles. Tears of anger and annoyance clouded my vision.
If my mother forced me to marry him, they'll have to find a different girl to end their stupid war. I don't want to get involved in that, I just want to marry someone I love and rule over my queendom. Like I've always dreamed of. But the Goddess gifted that old man with prophecy for a reason. And if it was to force an elf to marry a vampire, then she must've done something wrong.
This couldn't be happening. If I feel anything, I feel like an outcast. A toy. Just something that can stop a war. I'll just be discarded afterwards. Like garbage. Nobody could help me. Not even the Goddess. Not my mother. Not any of the kings, queens, princes or princesses in the world could.
If I gave in to the aching hole in my heart, then I would be giving into the prophecy. I would end up in the middle of it all, battles of love and murder would be going on around me.And, in the end, I would never be the same.
