Ali's pov

"Hey guys how was school?" I smile, wrapping my arms around Grace and Leo as Carson and Lily hold hands beside us

"Yeah good, I guess" Grace says, looking at her feet with a blush

"You guess? Grace what happened?" I ask, playfully raising my eyebrow

"Nothing Mom"

"My day was great. My teacher gave me a gold star" Leo smiles with pride

"Well done Leo, your mom and dad will be very happy to hear that. I'm very proud of you. My nephew, the golden boy" I smile, pulling him closer to me as I walk them to the car

"Lily, Carson how was your day?"

"Fine Aunt Alison"

"As usual" I laugh, rolling my eyes. I don't even know why I bothered asking him, his answer is always the same

"I had a good day Mom"

When our children first started elementary we were all going separately to pick up our own kids however, Spencer pointed out how stupid it was for us all to go to the school, so we allocated people for the school runs which for some unknown reason included Spoby however they both say they enjoy taking our kids to school so we left them in. Emily and I both have two slots in the school runs however, neither of us mind because we both love when we pick them up from school and get to watch as our children excitedly jump towards us with huge grins on their faces for saving them from their hell which is often referred to as elementary school.

I turn around to make sure everyone has their seatbelts on before I pull out of my parking space, Grace is sitting beside me and her cheeks are glowing. She looks extremely happy which is not out of character, however this smile is different from the rest; I just can't figure out why.

When I get home I find Emily and Emerson sound asleep on the sofa, while the tv plays extremely old episodes of sponge-bob in the background. Lily and Grace both kick their shoes off in the middle of the floor, dropping their bags which I almost trip over

"Girls how many times have I told you? Do not just dump your shoes and bags. Someone will get hurt" I complain, tossing their small converse onto the shoe-rack and pushing their bags against the wall

"Hey gorgeous" Emily groggily smiles at me

"Grace came out of school today...blushing"

"Why was she blushing?" Emily excitedly asks

"Well that's what I don't know. She wouldn't tell me, I want you to try find out"

"If she didn't tell you, why do you think she'll tell me?"

"I don't know but it's worth a try"

"Okay I'll ask her. Here you take Emerson"

Emily's pov

"Grace, a little birdie told me you were blushing after school today. What were you blushing at?"

"Nothing. I wasn't blushing. I was just glad to go home" she sweetly smiles. Grace reminds me of my younger self; a terrible liar

"Okay, well whatever you were blushing at, you can tell Mom and me. If you want" I smile, leaving their room and closing the door behind me
