"See you there, Ava"

"Lets go" My dad says pushing me out the door. "Now act civilized" he whispers.
We get into his 2017 Sedan and drive to his office building.

"Hello, Mr. Lee. The office party is right around the corner"

"Party? I thought it was a meeting" my dad questions

"Nope, party. Have fun!"

"Of fucking course it's a damn party, now everyone has to see how ugly my daughter is" he mumbles "you know what, just don't come near me" he tells me and walks off.
I go to the snack table and grab and apple.

"Hi" A girl says coming up to me. She looks about 17-18 with black hair and blue eyes. I smile

"So, which one of these guys do you think is the hottest?" She asks. I laugh and point to a random guy. "Oh! He's Cason Dodge. He's kinda stuck up though" she tells me. I nod.
"You don't talk much, do you?" She asks. I shake my head. "I have an idea! Cason! Cason Dodge!" She yells waving her hands. I try my best to get her to shut up but it doesn't work and he looks at us. "My name's Cassidy by the way" she says as Cason walks to us.

"Hey little sis" Cason says to Cassidy. They're siblings?

"Hey Casey"

"What's your name?" He asks me. I shake my head "not a talker, huh?" I shake my head again "that's okay"

"She thinks your cute" Cassidy tells him, I hit her shoulder and look at him. My face must be so red!

"You're cute too" he smiles. Someone calls their names "goodbye" they walk to what I'm assuming is their mom and dad.

"Why the fuck were you talking to them? Or should I say why were they talking to you" He asks. I shrug.

"Hey. I'm Dylan Dodge, these are my kids; Cassidy and Cason" he tells my dad

"Oh. Hi" my dad sticks his hand out to shake Dylan's hand

"We're both pretty important to this company" Dylan starts "so my and my wife were wondering if you'd like to come to dinner with us, along with- what's your name?" He asks me

"Ava" my dad answers "and we'd love to"

"Great!"

"See you there, Ava" Cason winks. I look away and blush a little bit. No. I can't get involved with him, I can't even talk! Plus he's just going to beat me and rape me. All men are monsters. I start to tear up but no one notices, so I slip away and go to the bathroom. I hear the door open and wipe the tears from my eyes.

"Hey, you okay?" Cassidy asks.
I nod
"I know your not" she says.
I look at her.
"Is it me?"
I shake my head
"Cason?"
I shake my head again
"Uhm, do you have anxiety?"
I nod. That's not the real reason but it's part of it.
"I'm sorry. I used to have anxiety too. I even went to counseling for it. My counselor told me to hide somewhere and count five things you can see, five things you can touch, five things you can hear, and five things you can smell. It usually helps" I smile at her thankfully
"You're welcome" she chuckles and walks back to the party. I try to do what she told me but all I can think about is that dinner tomorrow.
