Adeline walked into the dining room and was met with a chorus of "Hey Adeline" from the Avengers extended which she responded with a shy wave and a soft "Hello."
"Hey sweetheart you're just in time for dinner. Now why don't you go sit down over there in between Natasha and Clint." Nodding slightly Adeline walked over the the beautiful redhead and the childish archer and sat down.
"Now everyone how were your days? Everything okay?" Steve questioned the group of superheroes receiving a couple "It's was alright" a few "Could of been better" and one "It sucked ass."
"Clint." Steve sharply said "Language there are children present." At which Peter started to protest "Hey! I'm not a child this morning I was out stopping bad guys and-" Peter was cut off by Steve clearing his throat looking pointedly at Adeline who was luckily in her own little world too busy to listen to Peter's slip up.
"Anyway who wants chicken?"
As everyone started to eat Adeline just kept staring at the plate of food in front of her. Right it's just chicken rice and vegetables I can just eat the cucumber and tomato's that will only be around 30 calories then I can say I'm too full for the carbs and meat Adeline thought picking up her fork, stabbing a cucumber slice and eating it missing the small smiles Bruce, Tony, Steve and Peter gave at the sight of her eating the food. If only they knew.
"So Adeline how was dancing?" Tony questioned taking a sip of his 'juice'.
"Urm it was fine we just practiced the dances for our competitions."
"Fun."
The rest of the dinner Adeline sat picking her food, rarely actually eating it, listening aimlessly to the conversations around her only speaking when spoken to.

"Addy come sit we're going to watch the Lion King." Peter called to the girl who was standing awkwardly in the corner.
"I will I just wanted to know if it was okay if I could go to the library?" she told Peter before directing her question to Tony who nodded at her. "Thanks" she said before walking down the familiar corridor to the library.
Walking into the library Adeline headed over to the shelves and started looking through all the books trying to find one that intrigued her.
"Hello Addy," Loki said from behind her making her gasp in surprise "What are you doing here?"
"Oh I'm here hunting for elephants." she replied sarcastically turning to face him. Loki, surprised at her sass, laughed amused finding it refreshing to talk to someone who didn't cower in fear minus the Avengers who he couldn't stand.
"You should be careful, one day that mouth of yours might get you in trouble."
Adeline who had turned back to the shelf looked back at Loki smirking "Oh I'm hoping on it."
Adeline grabbed a random fictional book about some boarding school and sat down next to Loki. "So how have you been Lo?"
"Lo?" questioned Loki raising his eyebrows. "Yes," Adeline nodded "Lo short for Lo-ki you needed a nickname."
"Oh did I now?" "Yes you do so it's either Lo, Lo-kitty or Prince of Darkness." "Yeah I think I'm going to stick with Lo and I've been fine thank you Addy how have you been?."
"Good. And yeah I've been fine apart from the fact that I have to remember 21 different dances and I'm underweight so I have to go on some diet plan with Tony." Adeline stated rolling her eyes.
"Addy." Loki said warningly. "Yeah yeah I know I'm perfect just the way I am and don't need to be skinny to be pretty."
"Addy, why do you do this?" Loki questioned. "I'm just curious I know you know you aren't fat so why do you starve yourself. You don't have to answer if you don't want to."
Adeline looked up from her book, closed it, placed it on the table and took a deep breath "No it's fine," Adeline said running her hand through her hair "Your right I know I'm not over-weight or anything but I've always felt - because of me being at dance because of scholarships and being poorer than the rest of the dancers that I had to prove to everyone that I was the best or that I earned to be there. Some girls would talk about me and my weight so for a while I truly believed I was large. So I would start missing meals and staying later and exercising more just to prove that I could be better. And-" Adeline's eyes teared up and her voice cracked. She laughed wiping her eyes "I'm sorry I'm such a mess. I just wanted to be perfect."
"Adeline you listen to me right now." Loki said very sternly "You don't have to prove anything to anyone except yourself. Okay those girls were just jealous whiny spoiled brats who thought you would be a weak target- but you're not you're strong. And you are amazing." he said putting his hand on her shoulder.
"Thank you." she said.
"Listen when I was younger I always thought I wasn't as good as my brother. It was obvious my 'father' always favoured him over me and I wanted to prove to him that I was fit to be king. You saw I even tried to take over the world just to make him notice me. But it was all for nothing and none of it matters now. We are strong and we are better then people make us out to be okay?"
Loki's eyes widened and his body stiffened as Adeline threw herself into Loki's arms sobbing lightly, "Thank you. You could be a motivational speaker." she whispered into his chest.
After getting over his initial shock Loki relaxed slightly and wrapped his arms around her "You're going to be okay. We are survivors." They sat like that for a few minutes before pulling away from each other.
"Now lets go next door. They're watching the Lion King and I love that film so let's get moving." Adeline declared standing up.
"Oh I don't think so. I'm not that liked in there."
"You are Loki, Prince of Asgard and you care what a few mortals think about you?" she asked raising her eyebrows.
"I'm not going in there and that's final."
***
Adeline sat on the sofa looking around at everyone enjoying the film even Loki.
Maybe I've found a place here? Adeline thought relaxing between Steve and Loki.
