This was it. She was going to be 16 tomorrow. It felt unreal to her and everyone around her. How could baby Adeline Parker be turning 16 so soon?
Nevertheless everyone was excited, especially a special Norse god. The Avengers were hosting a special party tomorrow night in honour of Adeline's birthday and Loki was determined to make it perfect. It needed to be perfect for his little sister.
Adeline and Peter had decided to stay the night at Avengers tower as May had work and it would be easier for them in the morning regarding birthdays and presents.
But since it's Addy's last day as a 15 year old they had decided to do something special. Tony took like out to the fanciest restaurant in the state. And damn it was good. Or in Adeline's words: "Holy crap this place is so fancy. I feel like a rich housewife of Orange County."
But now they were all back from a semi eventful dinner they were all chilling on the couches deciding what film to watch that everyone would like.
In the end they settled on Bridesmaids and all cuddled up on the sofas; Adeline in between Peter and Loki.
The blue eyed girl laughed slightly at the film leaning back into Peter's chest as he hugged her tightly. "I still can't believe you're gonna be 16 tomorrow Ads. I remember when you were just a little baby." Peter said quietly, "I wish you would stop getting older."
"Oh shut up you're only like 3 years older than me and you should be careful what you wish for Pete. or you may regret it bro. I mean most the time I wish you could be less annoying but I guess we can't all get what we wish for." Adeline said with a cheeky smile on her face. Peter merely rolled his eyes at his younger sister.
Adeline stared at Peter's face as he was watching the film, smiling as he started laughing at one of the scenes. She truly loved her brother and felt absolutely terrible for how she had treated him in the past. Sure he deserved a little silent treatment but not one as harsh as Adeline's. So everyday she tried her best to make up for it.
She still couldn't believe her brother was Spider-Man, it was weird for her to think that her dorky older brother fights crime on a regular basis. But if that's what he likes doing and he helps people then I guess it's worth it.
She yawned slightly holding her pounding heart.
The young dancer had been feeling pretty out of it all night scratch that all week but for the sake of everyone else she just stayed quiet. She was most likely just excited for tomorrow.
She would probably be fine tomorrow.
With that Adeline stood up and announced her departure to the focused Avengers, "I'm gonna go to bed I've got chest pains so imma try and sleep it off but I'll see you all tomorrow." Adeline laughed as nobody even turned towards her, too glued to the film in front of her. But she did get a weird hand gesture from Tony if that counts for anything. "I love you all." she said but rolled her eyes as still nobody looked at her. "Yeh okay goodnight."

Noah woke up pumped. It's was Adeline's birthday today. Adeline as in Adeline Parker, as in his life long crush and best friend. But hopefully not for long.
He was going to confess his feelings towards her today. Sure she knew he likes her but he was going to say three words most girls wanna hear; I love you. But he needed to do it quick or he would run out of confidence so he quickly got dressed, grabbed her present and shot out the door towards the Avengers tower.
He was practically jumping with excitement and adrenaline as he stepped out the elevator but that all dialled down as he noticed the sombre mood in the room. "Hey guys where's the birthday girl?" he asked clueless of the effects that that simple question would have on everyone in the room.
Noah immediately knew something was wrong as he noticed tear stains down everyone's faces. Fear started to rise as he wondered what had happened. "Peter, where's Adeline?" Noah asked once again starting to panic as the Parker boy didn't answer and only turned his head into Steve's chest to cry.
"Kid I'm so sorry." Tony said stepping forward and putting a gentle hand on his shoulder "But Adeline-" he took a deep breath "Adeline's gone."
"Wha-what? What do you mean gone?"
"GONE! Gone as in she's dead and she's never coming back!" Loki suddenly snapped from the corner of the room, getting up and storming out. Thor quick to follow him to check up ok his brother.
"No- no she can't be. I don't believe no she's not. She's not dead she can't be dead." Noah stuttered, tears welling up in his eyes. "Please tell me this a joke. That this is all just a sick joke. Please just say it's a joke." Noah pleaded desperately.
But when Bruce stepped forward simply saying "I'm sorry." he completely broke down. Tears streamed down his face and he stumbled back sliding down the wall. How could Adeline be dead? She was fine yesterday. How? Why? WHY?
"How?" he choked out. Once again Bruce spoke up "It's called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. It's a heart disease that she had inherited from her grandmother. Her anorexia probably didn't help it either. No one knew she had it until today."
"Thank you and I'm sorry. I'm sorry." he muttered before he turned and ran out the tower. He ran and ran until he could run no more. He just need to get away.
Noah found a park bench to sit on and clutching Adeline's present he cried and cried. Adeline Parker his life long crush and best friend was dead. Dead. He didn't get the chance to say how much she meant to him. He didn't get the chance to give her her birthday present. He didn't get the chance to tell her he loves her. He didn't get the chance to say goodbye.
And he would always regret that.
