Actually to the contrary of what Yi Su thought he did turn up but when he did he wasn't smiling at all. He looked like he had suffered severe depression for years. He came up to Ji Su and finally flashed his teeth in a wide toothy smile.
"Hi Ji Su. I spoke to you yesterday didn't I. And you even sent me a picture of you so I knew who you were. Smart thinking." Up till that moment he hadn't noticed Yi Su sitting beside Ji Su.
"Oh and you must be Yi Su right." he said as reached a hand out to Yi Su. "Ji Su told me about you. You must really suffer without your husband. Well don't worry now that you've got me to help you find him you don't need to worry!"
"Thanks so much for lending us a hand Mr Kim. I really appreciate your help. We really couldn't have -" Ji Su was cut halfway.
"You can save your thanks till later," his mood turned serious. "But I have some really bad and really good news for you. Which one do you want to hear first?" He didn't give them time to respond.
"I will give you the good first because being positive is always a good thing. OK. So I managed to get permissions while calling in some favors and all sorts of help and I persuaded one of the border patrol guards to grant us access through to get outside SKY. He helped me come in. But the bad news is that the police are really twitchy. Something big is going to happen and we don't know what. So if you decide to go out of SKY you may not be able to return back in. Do you get the hang of what I am saying?"
Yi Su stared blankly at his face. She clearly understood what he was saying. How desperately she wanted to join the outside and try to find Jin but she didn't have the courage to leave her mum behind. What with her dad storming of like that the other day. It started as a playful joke at first but then they started arguing. They wouldn't stop no matter what Yi Su pleaded. Then the silence began. They ignored one another. They acted like there wasn't another person in the room and finally her dad never returned from work one day.
"I'm coming. I've got nothing to lose. My brother died. My father got killed outside. My mum suicided in grief and I don't even like my guardians. I'm coming. I've got nothing to lose. " Ji Su exclaimed confidently. "Are you coming too Yi Su? You don't have to if you don't want to. I could look for Jin."
Through a mere minute a lot of things flashed through Yi Su's mind. Ji Su's mum suicided in grief. She was there at her funeral. She drove her car at full speed into the electrocuted SKY. She died because she lost her husband. Yi Su wondered whether her mum will reach such conclusions if she left. But. But she remembered Jin's face the day he left. It was full of hope that they will see each other again. She could explain this to her mum. But she can never explain it to Jin if she lost this chance. It may be the only chance. If she can get out she can use the power in number to get back. Yes. This won't be permanent. This isn't forever. This isn't goodbye.
"Yes. I'm coming. I may never get this chance again."
