Mr Kim led Yi Su and Ji Su through a series of underground tunnels of some sort. It was so dark outside but inside was a whole new level of darkness. They were running in the dark - not soft so you can see each other in fuzzy greys but bold, black, silent dark. The only noise to be heard was lots and lots of feet pounding the floor. The border patrol guard had agreed that he would turn off a panel for them to get through to the other side. But the question that remained with them all was - Which panel did he turn off? They all know that if he turned off a different panel to the one they were going to run through, then all of them will be electrocuted to their death. They just hoped.

The silence was broken. It was Mr Kim again.

"Girls we are close to the border now. If the panel is turned off then we will make it through to the other side!"

All of us cheered silently. But then he made a remark quiet to himself but they all heard. He said

"But if its off, we are doomed to our burnt bodies' death."

The words hung in the air like crystals. It was silent but somehow it felt like he was saying the same comment again and again and again. This run was going to be tediously slow even though they were close. They went on. Running and running without a stop. Then the tunnel was getting brighter. They could materialize each other. They can now identify features. Until finally they could see each other nervously squinting around. Then all of a sudden up ahead there was a flash. They slowed down to a fast walk which eventually slowed and slowed to a halt. Was that SKY being electrocuted again? Or turned off? They didn't know but Mr Kim took Ji Su's hand and Ji Su grabbed Yi Su's. They were all now running, as fast as their legs could carry them. They can't turn back now. It's too late. Yi Su already told her mum about it. If she went back, her mum will end up telling someone. She was scared; all of them were. What if they didn't make it. Their corpses wouldn't be found. The tunnel was definitely getting brighter though. Now they won't stop. They ran and ran. 

They gripped each other's hand tightly. But the nervous sweat on Yi Su's hand was making it uncomfortably hard to hold on. Her hand was sliding. She wasn't as fast as Mr Kim. The grip was loosening. Even in this light Yi Su could see Ji Su turn around in front of her and frantically try to grip on. But this just made it all worse. Her hand slid off even more. Then suddenly Mr Kim ran faster and said

"We made it!"

Just as Yi Su's hand slipped off. She was about a metre's distance behind them. Then suddenly there was another flash. Yi Su's back arched forward as her body was filled with charge on her electrocution. She fell forward onto the floor. And her squinted eyes just noticed Mr Kim and Ji Su come running back towards her before she slipped away into the dark again for an eternity's sleep.
