Stood Up

I could still feel the throbbing in my head from when my mother hit me across the head....

I could still hear the evil things she called me.

"YOU FUCKING WHORE! HOW DARE YOU, AND WHAT ABOUT AUSTIN!! YOUR FATHER WOULD HATE YOU!"

Tears funneled my eyes as I thought about how Diego was ripped away from me and the fear in his eyes when the door was closed. But I'm sure the fear wasn't because he was afraid of what might happen to him....he was afraid of what might happen to me.

I laid there crying as I heard my mother telling Austin everything that happened. I hated myself and I hated my life and just wanted everything to end.

-1 week later-

My mother had me on lock down. She made Candy switch her work shifts so someone could be at the house with Diego and I at all times. She never let us out of sight and we couldn't see each other anymore.

Candy gave Diego his phone back like he said she would, and he has been seeing Jess....all the time....

I will never know what happened between me and Austin or what will happen. I felt like shit and I couldn't just sit here and think about what's gonna happen next. I wasn't allowed to do anything....

My door slowly creaked open and I watched as Candy slowly allowed herself in my room and came and sat at the edge of my bed.

"Cassie, I just talked to your mother and she said she feels sorry."

"So why are you in here instead of her?"

Candy was struck by my words and almost became speechless, and her attempt at hiding it was a complete fail.

"She had to go off to work, but I just needed you to know that." Candy replied, "And I have a note from Austin don't worry I didn't read it but he gave it to me yesterday when he came over last night."

"Austin was here??" I nearly shouted.

"Yes but-" she stopped herself and just handed me the note. I looked up at the doorway and saw Diego peering into the room but then slowly dissapearing. "Just take this." She softly said and walked out of the room.

I slowly opened the note and read it-

Cassie, meet me at the park at 7:00 we need to talk.

I gave a deep breath as I realized he wanted me to sneak out. I looked up at the time and saw that it was 5:45. My mother would be home in an hour which meant she would be the one watching Diego and I. I knew that this was a dangerous game that I would be playing but it was worth the risk. I grabbed some clothes and put my hair up in a ponytail preparing for a shower. I walked into the hallway and became face to face with Diego. He was heading to his room.

This was the first time that we had made contact in a while. After a minute of locking eyes with him he pulled my towards him and kissed me.

"Being away from you has been driving me insane and every minute I spend with Jess I think of nothing but you." He spoke softly.

"I miss you too." I replied.

"Diego!" Candy called him from downstairs.

He slowly let me go and began to trudge off. I felt breathless like the kiss had just sucked the life out of me. I managed to pull myself together and went to take my shower.

After showering I pulled on my black jeans and my black crop top hoodie. I looked at the clock and eyed it intensely as it read 6:36. My mom was in her room across the hall and Candy had went to work. I checked twice to see if she was still sleep and she was.

I began to pull on my black converse when I heard a tap at the window. I yelped and saw that it was Diego and he was sitting on the roof. I opened the window with a shocked expression.

"What are you doing crazy?" I whispher shouted.

"I needed to see you." Diego said as he pulled himself into the window, landing on my reading nook.

"You need to stop because we could get in trouble and you have a girlfriend." I responded.

"I don't care about any of that shit bro, if you would just-" he stood up.

"Just what?" I stood with my arms folded.

Diego grabbed me by waist and pulled me close to him and began kissing me and rubbing me slowing. His touch send tingles down my spine and made me weak. As we fell back on the bed he made his way down to my pants unzipping them.

"We should never speak of this." I declared as I pulled my jeans on.

"Whatever, soon you'll be knocking at my window." Diego smirked.

I followed behind him as he began to step out of the window.

"Oh and here's a little something that can remind you of tonight." He gave me a peck and handed me his black beanie.

I smiled and rolled my eyes as I took the beanie from out of his hand.

"Goodnight Diego." I said.

"Goodnight Cassie." He replied and went off into his room.

I flopped back on my bed and looked at the clock. IT WAS 8:12.

I was so caught up with Diego I couldn't even think straight. I raced over to my window with one leg out when-

"CASSIE OPEN THIS DAMN DOOR!" My mother shouted.

Oh my gosh......I guess I was standing him up after all......
