-Cassie's P.O.V-

My alarm woke me up at 6:30am.

Today was the day that I would be returning back to that horrid place that was known as school. It had been 5 months. All I had been doing in this time was preparing for baby Abigail to be born. I had never returned to that place after that tragic day...

But today I was returning to gather some important information that I had left behind...

Mom wasn't home as usual so I fixed myself a bowl of cereal and went on with my day.

-

When I pulled up in that usual parking lot I felt my heart race. The pounding of it was nearly louder than the radio. I parked my car and slowly got out. I made sure I came at a time where no one would be in the halls.

I walked into the main office, backpack on shoulder, and a clear mind before standing in front of the woman at the front desk.

"Cassie?"

She was familiar with me since I was apart of the yearbook committee every year.

"Hi Mrs.Hooragan." I responded with a small smile plastered across my lips.

"You haven't been here all year? Are you enrolling late?"

"Actually I was here on the first day but something came up driving me away from school all this time." I lied.

"Well I hope things get better I'll check the system for your schedule." She replied and began clicking through her computer.

Her constant scrolling came to a stop after a while and she finally got up and went to the printer and handed me my schedule.

"See you around Cassie." She patted my hand and sent me on my way, "We're going to 4th block by the way!" She called out just as the bell rung.

The hallway filled with familiar faces as teenagers poured into the empty hallway. My heart raced as eyes locked on me and people began to whispher.

"I can't believe she's back."

I tried to keep my eyes focused on certain things like lockers, posters, and floor tiles but I couldn't help but look at the people who stared at me. But then a familiar face that I never imagined seeing ever again came into sight and caught me by surprise.

"Austin." I mumbled to myself.

And as if on cue he looked at me. I nearly felt glued to the tiles but I somehow managed to keep walking.

The hallways were clearing out and it was less people on the hall now.

"Cassie." He spoke softly.

I tried to walk faster but that only made him grab me by my wrist. I snatched away quickly as a vivid image of Caroline hitting me in the face came into view but then quickly fading away.

"What is wrong with you?" I shrieked.

"Something is wrong with me for not wanting to loose my best friend." He replied which caught me off guard.

I realized that I was the problem, I was the one pushing him away. Maybe Caroline wouldn't have attacked me if I hadn't hurted Austin...or was I just overthinking it.

He tilted his head towards an empty classroom, insisting that I follow. I gave a sigh and followed him into the room and closed the door.

"Our first time alone together." He attempted at breaking the ice as he leaned on one of the desks.
