Elijah

He disappeared from my vision for a second time today, and again I didn't like the feeling that consumed me.

He's right. I don't know him.

Not even his name.

So this was stupid. I was being stupid.

I picked my backpack up off the floor and began my journey to my car. It was no point in going back to detention now, plus if I leave now I can pick Kayson up on time.

I exited the science wing, crossing the court yard into the extracurricular area of the school as a short cut to the student parking lot.

I have to make sure I text Thea later, I think I see a potential friendship there. If it works out Kayson won't be able to say I don't have any friends anymore.

My thoughts discarded with a puff of smoke as hushed voices filled my ears.

"If he finds out, he'll kill me."

"Carter won't find out."

I froze.

Carter? I know a Carter. Was it the Carter I knew or the Carter the hushed voices knew? Or is that the same Carter?

I took a couple steps until I was in front of the seemingly empty dance room where the voices were coming from.

Normally I wouldn't eavesdrop, naturally I just don't care. But one of the voices sounded unfortunately familiar.

"We have to be smart about this, Jade."

My eyes widened. Jade?! Carters girlfriend jade?!

"We are. Trust me, he'll never know."

I peeked into the room and seen two bodies pushed against each other, sucking each others faces off. Her strawberry blonde hair confirming my suspension.

I can't believe she's cheating on Carter! Carter doesn't deserve that! He's a sweetheart! And really good at art! The other party, whoever he is, is just as guilty. Letting Jade seduce him with her gorgeous make up free face!

Oh poor Carter, he's gonna be crushed.

"Elijah?"

My eyes grew as big as saucers as I spun around. "Carter?!" I whisper-yelled.

"Why are yo--" On instinct, I grabbed his hand and dragged him out the hall. I pulled nonstop until we were out of the building. "Woah, hey slow down."

What is he made of, concrete? Jesus.

Once we were outside I stopped, out of breath. Let the record show that I am the furthest thing from athletic, and completely out of shape.

I put my hands on my knees, panting.

"Mind telling me what's going on?" Carter said and I held up a finger, signalling for him to give me a minute. He laughed.

But I found nothing funny about this situation. I'm dying and Jade is a cheater.

I stood up and looked at him. My eyes grew wide and flew back to the gound instantly after.

Oh God.

"Where's your shirt?!" I squeaked loudly, really wishing my dress had pockets now.

I seen his chest, and abs, and nipples, and way more skin than I needed to. How did I not notice he wasn't wearing a shirt before?!

He must work out a lot...

No. Stop that.

"In the locker room," He was smirking, I could hear it in he's voice. "I was on my way to get my cleats from my car."
